AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives--the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities]. |
Subject: What does judgement look like |
Bible Note: While Keliy is right that the details of the judgment are rather hard to describe, the assurance that it is coming should cause us to take stock of our lives. I suspect neither God nor Jesus put much stock in the label "Christian" or "born again." God looks at the heart and the actions and, ultimately, judges/weighs us from his point-of-view. Jesus said that all people will appear before him to be judged -- not according to their labels, their doctrines, their creeds, their statements of faith -- but according to whether they have done God's will (Matt 7:21). It's not so much a matter of what we believe as it is a matter of how we live. The "right faith", James says, results in the "right works" (James 2:14-26) Despite what some may say, Jesus judges ALL according to their works. And it is, according to the Bible, a matter of life and death. For those who do good, immortality. For those who do evil, death (Rom 2:6-8). It all comes down to that (Rom 6:23). |
