AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives--the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities]. |

Bible Note: Greetings Bill! First of all, welcome to the forum! Secondly, all of Scripture is inspired by the same God. Therefore, all of it is equally authoritative for both doctrine and practice. Eph. 2:8-10 makes it perfectly clear that we do good works because we are saved. We cannot be saved by doing good works. We are saved by grace through faith, not by works. If we are trusting in our own ability to 'obey' God, we will surely fail since we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). Trusting in Him for salvation is not easy. :-) There is something about our fallen, depraved nature that longs to earn our standing before God. In fact, I would argue that trusting Him alone is the hardest thing we could ever have to do. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
