Subject: Does sin prove one is not a believer? |
Bible Note: David24597. "The work of maintaining our salvation," you say, "is our own, with God's help. The glory upon reaching heaven is a SHARED glory." ..... Now, David, it is easier to make a sweeping soteriological statement such as this than to prove it. In order to justify such a statement as this, it will first become necessary to deny that the following statements have an ounce of truth or relevance in them (I have emphasized certain key words): "For by GRACE you have been saved through FAITH. And this is NOT YOUR OWN DOING; it is the GIFT of God, NOT A RESULT OF WORKS, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9 ESV). ...... "The glory upon reaching heaven is a SHARED glory." David, this is as totally and preposteriously unscriptural as anything I've ever read. Talk about boasting! Hurray! I'm in heaven because ME and God got me here! What about Jesus and His finished work on cross? ..... David, before you continue to clutter up the pages of this Forum with statements like the one I have addressed here, why don't you covenant with yourself to sharpen up your hermeneutics? Learn the principles which govern the practice of Bible exegesis. Get yourself a solid book on systematic theology (Wayne Grudem and J.P. Boyce are two that come to mind) and sit down and study it. ..... But please, David, for your own soul's health, learn more by asking questions and post fewer disserations on complex subjects of which, frankly, you lack mastery and on which you are not convincing. I have no doubt that you are sincere and that your motives are above reproach, but friend, you are clearly in water over your head. --Hank |
