AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:6 ¶ Now, believers, if I come to you speaking in unknown tongues, how will I benefit you unless I also speak to you [clearly] either by revelation [revealing God's mystery], or by knowledge [teaching about God], or by prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], or by instruction [teaching precepts that develop spiritual maturity]? |

Bible Note: Hi Jayell, Thank you! Service and love are truly the correct perspective on this issue. 1 Corinthians 14:12 “Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” To the same degree that you want spiritual gifts, seek to excel at building up the church, your Christian brothers and sisters around you. Each place that discusses the spiritual gifts opens with an admonition to humility. Pursue love. Desire the abilities to perform beyond what you are able to do. Don’t be alarmed, if in the course of ministering to the body, you find yourself in over your head. Expect the empowerment from the Holy Spirit, to enable you to do the work He has led you to do. Expect to be enabled by the gifting of the Holy Spirit, as we are humbly yielded, to go far beyond our natural abilities. Love in Christ, mark |
