AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:6 ¶ Now, believers, if I come to you speaking in unknown tongues, how will I benefit you unless I also speak to you [clearly] either by revelation [revealing God's mystery], or by knowledge [teaching about God], or by prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], or by instruction [teaching precepts that develop spiritual maturity]? |

Bible Note: Hi, Jayell... Good comments. I had noticed the church-building, evangelical nature of glosolallia. Here's another observation: We see Christ's prophetic, commissioning statement to the disciples "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." (Acts 1:8 ESV) Three broadening circles are mentioned: (1) Jerusalem, (2) Judea and Samaria, and (3) beyond. The Holy Spirit confirms the building of the church at each of these stages. Every time glosolallia is mentioned there is great evangelism; i.e., growth of the church. (1) Jerusalem: Acts 2:4 (2) Judea and Samaria: Acts 10:44 (3) Beyond: Acts 19:6 My two mites on the topic.
