Subject: Are miracles for today? |
Bible Note: Country Girl You said speaking of miracles, "Those in our Bible were so great and magnificent that there was no question as to where they came from or Who was behind them." However they were questioned. In nearly every miracle the Bible also records those that questioned or did not believe. It took Pharaoh 10 miracles and the lost of his son before he would admit to God's power. The children of Israel questioned God almost in every miracle. The Jews and Pharisees questioned every miracle Jesus performed. They questioned was the person really sick, had anything else been done, was this power from God or Beelzebub. Miracles prove very little to the unbelieving especially in today’s world where we have been exposed to nearly every hoax and trick man can conceive of. Also all miracles are not of God. Look at the two men that opposed Moses Jannes and Jambres without a minutes preparation they were able to match the miracles God worked through Moses. In this we can clearly see the power of the adversary. I also submit there are probably a equal number of cancer patients both Christian and non that experienced miraculous cures. If it happens to a Christian we say praise God, God healed us. If it happens to a non Christian they talk about suing the doctor for misdiagnosis. If a man gets out of wheel chair today half will say it was miracle. Of that group they will be equally divided on who performed the miracle God or it was just a miracle. Of the group that doesn’t see it as a miracle they will say the pressure was released from his spine, or the nerve regenerated, or that therapy really works, you can overcome all adversity with enough willpower, the “apple” he ate once a day did it. However when a man/woman or child comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ the miracle is without question, unchallenged and eternal living. EdB |
