Bible Note: Greetings Country Girl! By spiritual gifts, I mean.... 1) Abilities given directly by the Holy Spirit to an individual, not natural talents - 1 Cor. 12:4-11. 2) They are given for works of ministry for the common good - 1 Cor. 12:7. 3) Love should be the foundation of all the gifts - 1 Cor. 13. 4) They ought to be a normal part of our worship, done for the strengtening of the church - 1 Cor. 14:26. 5) They should be used in an orderly fashion - 1 Cor. 14:33, 40. 6) They should not be forbidden - 1 Cor. 14:39. 7) We all have different gifts - Rom. 12:6. 8) Gifts can be neglected - 1 Tim. 4:14, 2 Tim. 1:6. 9) Each of us has a responsibility to use our gifts to serve others - 1 Pet. 4:10. The only passage that seems to speak of how to judge a gift is 1 Cor. 12:3. No gift of God can deny Christ! Can we be certain? There is very little in life of which we can be certain! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
