Subject: Scripture supporting Sprinkling/Immersio |
Bible Note: Hi kreature, I was using the example of Jesus in Matt. 5:29 -30 to emphasize that literal interpretation of a passage is not always the correct one. Context and the entirety of scripture need to be considered as well. One verse of scripture does not a doctrine make! I've been both sprinkled as an infant and immersed as an adult, so I have my bases covered:-) I certainly don't want to belabor the point or debate over this matter. However, how one views the Book of Acts will impact the doctrinal views held. There is a third view- like it or not. I believe that Acts is a narrative (primarily)- a bridge between the Gospels and Epistles. It's focus is not doctrinal- and by that I mean laying out the definitive practices for the church today. Now, if you are of the Church of Christ, I understand your view, but unfortunately do not embrace it. Lets move on to more profitable and edifying discussions. There is so much more to the Bible than baptism running through its' pages. Would you agree? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
