Subject: Scripture supporting Sprinkling/Immersio |
Bible Note: Hello kreature, I'm familiar with the Acts 2:38 verse. It is, one of the most overused and (IMO) abused scriptures to support baptismal regeneration. I think we have to ask several questions before we jump to the conclusion that this one verse contains the "formula" for salvation. It is tenuous at best to develop a doctrine around one verse. Who was Peter speaking to and how does the whole of scripture shed light on on this verse! You'd certainly need more than Acts 2:38 to support your contention. Further, by your logic, I should pluck my eye out (and I suspect you'd do likewise), because this is what Jesus said! ( Matt. 5:29-30) Those are my thoughts. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
