AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Bible Question:
What answer are you trying to get ... be specific. I reviewed the posts. Please explain. Did Philip obey Jesus in Acts 8? Yes, I never ignored Acts 8. I said "Philip did obey Jesus by baptizing (washing) with water." I corrected you when you said "Jesus baptized in water Jordan" ... I asked, You said ... "I know Jesus baptized with water" ... but what does John 4:1-2 say? You said ... "He commaded 'immersion'" ... I believe it should be 'washing' ... based on Mark 7:4, Luke 11:38, Heb 9:10, Rev 19:13. See post 22971. I challenged you to read the Greek ... but, you refuse ... the English word wash(ing)(s) in these passages is the same word used for baptism/baptize. Remember, His method was not by water (Matt 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33; Acts 1:5, 11:16). |
Bible Answer: Good, you do not deny water is in Acts 8. We agree that water baptism is the pattern. You are right. Jesus don't seem to be baptizing himself, but Jesus baptized in river through his disciples. That's easy to see. Let me say again the point. This is logic, but not human logic. Here is why sprinkling don't fit. It follows that if a sinner is immersed that he is washed. It does not follow that a sinner when washed is also immersed. The word baptism means immerse. So the only act that is acceptable for obedience is immersion. |
