Bible Question:
Searcher, I honestly don't even think your post deserves a response. You can't be serious, but I am going to pose this question to the forum. In fact, since once again a valuable discussion (which may have been in danger of convincing some) has been removed from the main page, I feel as though I am safe in telling you that you are being dishonest with your interpretation. To pick just one of the verses I quoted, does 2 Thess 1:8 (dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.) mean that we dont have to obey to be saved? In looking back to verse 7, what does it mean to have Jesus revealed in flaming fire dealing out retribution to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus? I hope you really are searching. Bible Answer: Scripture ... 2 The 1:8 context (vv 5-10) ... sniper, Maybe even expand the context to verses 3-12. Who is verse 8 talking about? Believers - no. Verse 5 ... plain indication of God's righteous judgment Verse 6 ... God to repay with affliction those who afflict ... I hope they are not believers ... you ... they are Verse 7 ... to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us ... believers ... Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire ... it is about His coming Verse 8 ... dealing out retribution to those who do not know God ... to those who afflict, based on the context ... and aren't believers Verse 9 ... these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, ... aren't believers Verse 10 ... when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed--for our testimony to you was believed. ... back to believers Sniper ... does the context make sense that verse 8 is talking about the unbelievers who are afflicting the saints?
