Bible Note: Greetings Disciplerami! I love James! :-) James doesn't say anything contrary to what Paul said. James is arguing against those who 'claim' to have faith, but have no evidence to back up that claim. Both Paul and James say that saving faith will result in works. The only point we disagree on is that you feel that the works come before salvation, I feel that they come after salvation. This is an important distinction. James responds to and sometimes quote hypothetical objectors, so his letter can be tricky to follow sometimes. But, Paul states it quite clearly, "We are not saved by works!".
