Bible Question: If God will forgive our sins when we ask him, why did he also institute baptism, communion (and any other sacriment that you can think of) for the forgivness of sins. What is the biblical support for this? |
Bible Answer: God did not institute baptism and communion for the forgiveness of sins, in the sense that "for the forgiveness of sins” means that this is the means in which the forgiveness of sins is obtained, but rather in the sense that “for” means “because of” the forgiveness of sins. Example: I take as aspirin “for a headache”, not to obtain a headache, but “because of” the headache. retxar |
