Bible Question: If God will forgive our sins when we ask him, why did he also institute baptism, communion (and any other sacriment that you can think of) for the forgivness of sins. What is the biblical support for this? |
Bible Answer: phophiend, I won't attempt a lesson on sacraments here, but I would just like to point to one Old Testament incident for you to consider. There are of course NT incident and citations as well such as James 5:13-17. But take a look at the story of Naaman's cure (2 Kings 5) in light of your question and give it some thought in light of certain NT sacraments such as baptism. The use of scaraments is really not too surprising when one considers that man is both phsyical and spiritual. Jesus is of course the ultimate Sacrament whom we meet in all other lesser sacraments that derive from Him. God did not have to take on flesh (physical matter) to heal us save us, but He did. It is worth pondering. Emmaus Emmaus |
