Subject: I am Who I am in New Testament |
Bible Note: Andy I'm lost where is the Tetragrammaton YHWH used in Ex 3:14. I AM WHO I AM in 3:14 is Hebrew NASB number 1961 and the Tetragrammaton YHWH isn't found until we get to verse 3:16 and is the Hebrew NASB 3068. Two different words with similar but different spelling in the Hebrew. "Numbers used come from the HASB Greek Hebrew dictionary and equate to Strong's." I have always had a problem with people calling God I AM because of what God said in Ex 3:15 where God clearly declares his name to be "The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and further declares this will be his name forever and ever. I view the I AM or GREAT I AM to be a declaration of His title or essence. Much like we would refer to a president as president. But God declared his name to be God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Incidentally this name God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob makes a clear demarcation between the God of the Jews and Christians and the god of Islam, which people so want to confuse today. |
