AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 4:14 "But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life." |
Bible Question:
AO: You write: "Also, note that the thief on the cross did not die in the Christian age, but under the Law of Moses." My question is: Does this mean that under the Law there was no legal requirement to be baptized, but now that we are no longer under law there is such a legal requirement? If this were the case, then it would seem to be a contradiction. If we are no longer under Law, then why this new and additional legal requirement? --Radioman2 |
Bible Answer: Radioman2, That is a fair question. What Law are Christians no longer under, but the Law of Moses. There was no requirement to be baptised under the Old Covenant, but there was several foreshadowings of the concept. Today, God's people receive their benefit, salvation, under a new law, the Law of Grace, established by the New Covenant. Part of that convenant is the command to be buried and resurrected like Christ. If Christ followed the commands of God, why should people today expect they can do anything less? AO |
