Subject: Baptism...What does God's Word say? |
Bible Note: deejhermit - No problem with me, friend, that we need to obey Jesus in everything, and that certainly includes baptism. Obedience to His commands is inarguably the duty of every follower of Christ, of every regenerated (born again) believer. It is for good works for which we are created in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:10). But no works that we can possibly do have anything at all to do with our salvation, which is wholly of God. It is by His grace through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, that we have been saved. It is not of ourselves, not of our works, not of our doing certain things -- not, in fact, of our doing anything. Salvation does not rely on anything man does or can do. It relies solely on the grace of God, on what the Son of God has already done on the cross. Salvation from start to finish is the gift of God, given by His grace and not because of our merit. (See Ephesians 2:8,9). --Hank |
