Subject: Baptism...What does God's Word say? |
Bible Note: Hi Hank, Jesus has all authority, and we need to do all things in the name of Jesus, (Col 3: 17) Jesus reveals to us what we should do in the Bible. He told the apostles in the Gospel of John that the comforter would come and teach them and remind them of they had learned. So when Peter filled with the Holy Spirit told the Jews on the day of Pentecost to repent and be baptized into the name of Jesus to recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost, what Jesus said was being fulfilled - the comforter had come. Jesus has all authority to judge us. What will he judge us by? His Word. We need to stop looking at particular passages, (like the theif on the cross), as if they are the whole of God's revelation. But if we look at the entirety of the scriptures with an honest heart it won't be so hard to understand that we need to obey Jesus in everything. |
