Bible Question: Please explain John 19:27 |
Bible Answer: Hi, Betty Jones! I believe that things don't happen in a vacuum in the Bible. We can see many events typified from Genesis on. Jesus had a human mother who is bequeathed to a disciple (the one He loved?) which is typified in Revelation 12:17: "Then the dragon was enraged with the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children, who obey God's commandments and have in themselves the witness of Jesus." These children were not her natural children; they were adopted children (as John). Many would like you to believe that that passage is talking about the Church; but clearly they are mistaken: Jesus birthed the Church, not the other way around! I must confess that I do have a question on John 19:27--I cannot understand why, since there were Biblical statements about Jesus' siblings--especially about James who is a prominent disciple, Jesus would bequeath His mother to someone other than a blood relative. Unless a) Revelation 19:27 applies or these siblings were not Mary's blood relatives! God Bless! |
