Subject: When Jesus died, did dead people really |
Bible Note: You wrote: 'If something like that were truly to happen, then I don't think anyone would be in a "questioning" posture. It is this kind of "stretch" that creates the questions.' Well, Jesus' bodily resurrection is viewed by many non-Christians as a stretch, as well as feeding 5000 people with a handful of food, walking on water, healing the sick, etc. Do we discount all of the miraculous because it is a "stretch"? The Bible records that Jesus not only rose from the dead, but engaged in 40 more days of ministry before His ascension. The problem, I think, is that you think that based on real evidence right before someone's eyes, that such a person would without fail embrace Jesus Christ. Jesus himself reveals that such is not the case in his parable of the rich man and Lazarus: "But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead." --Luke 16:31 The problem with non-believers is not a lack of information or evidence, but the lack of a will to believe. God has clearly revealed himself (Romans 1:18-20; Hebrews 1:1-3), but the unregenerate human being will still choose to reject. --Joe! |
