Subject: Word or word? |
Bible Note: Hi Kalos, We interpret this passage in the same way, so I have no arguement with you. Our discussion is simply about capitalization. I want to express that I do not like to see words "emphasized" by means of capitalization (by anyone). By emphasizing "IT", you did not clarify anything; for if you wanted "It" capitalized then you would have agreement with the Word in the previous phrase, thus determining that the parable was talking about the Son of God. Keep in mind also that the Greek could be translated "HE, SHE, or IT". However, as I have said, we agree in interpretation and see this as a parable and would have Luke 8:11read, "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God." We do agree don't we? We agree that the devil can not take the Word, that is Jesus, from their heart. See verse 12. We agree that the word of God is received with joy, don't we? We agree that we have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast. Don't we? We agree I would think that a lamp gives light that is seen and that things come to light and become evident. See verse 16,17. But I believe that Jesus is the Light of the world, so I agree with verse 18 that we all should be careful how we listen to the word of God. From the heart, Ray |
