Bible Note: Hi Huron, When the Bible speaks of the heart one must remember that it isn’t talking about the cardiovascular pump, as it were, but the very core of man. When a person fully believes in Jesus the Son of God and what he did for them on the cross they receive a new nature, being a new creature in Christ. The big problem is, believers while still in this body have two natures, the old sin nature, which is from Adam and the new nature, which is after Christ. There is a war going on with in us as to which one is going to be in charge at any one point in time. When we give way to our lust then we sin and the Holy Spirit is grieved or quenched. The only way to give the Holy Spirit control again is but confessing the sin to God which is the exercise of I John 1:9. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If the Apostle Paul had this problem you can rest assure that we will! Romans 7:14-25 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. There are some that like to say, “they must have had a head belief and not a heart belief,” which is ridicules, man doesn’t reason with his blood pump. Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
