Bible Question: How would one reconcile this verse that speaks of an honest and good heart, (similar to Acts 17:11),with the general Bible teaching that the heart is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9)? |
Bible Answer: Huron, God promised that he would save His people by creating in them a new heart. So man's heart in the natural unregenrerated state is wicked and deceitful, but the new creation in Christ has a new heart. Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Ezek 11:19 "And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Ezek 18:31 "Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel? Ezek 36:26 "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Emmaus |
