Bible Note: Thanks for taking the time to respond to my remarks, Bob. Now, are you saying that sabbaton is never properly translated week? Besides in the Greek it's singular "sabbaton" not plural "sabbata" as in Acts 17:2. In the NASB the word is translated "week" nine times. Seven of those nine times its in the phrase "first of the week," and two of those seven times is outside the Gospels, Acts 20:7 and I Cor 16:2. In John 20:19 it's very clear that the phrase is refering to a day of the week and not a Jewish holiday. Thanks again. |
