Subject: WHERE are they taken? |
Bible Note: Hi, Brother Jeff! I'm certainly no expert on eschatology. In fact, if anything, I've rather tended to ignore the question. I suppose I've done that out of a discomfort that I feel for something that attracts so much attention without any obvious change in lives. However, once I spent a week or so looking at every scripture reference to the following Greek words: epiphaneia (Strongs 2015) (appearing) parousia (Strongs 3952) (advent) hupostrepho (Strongs 5290) (return) erchomai (Strongs 2064) (coming) I tried to compile everything I could find out about each, and integrate them into a whole. (I was a little naive at the time, thinking that perhaps I could settle the pre-trib, mid-trib, post-trib issues altogether. (By the way, I tend to be pre-millennial, but I have to confess that I don't have terribly solid ground on which to base that belief.)) Well, I wish I could say my conclusions put the whole issue to bed. :-) However, when I finished the research, the post-tribulation rapture looked to have a bit stronger Biblical support. By the way, Corrie ten Boom used to quite angrily denounce pre-tribulation rapture teaching. (It isn't as common outside of the United States.) She felt that it placed people into the kind of complacency that you mentioned. Anyway... just thought you might be interested. In Him, Doc |
