Subject: Does Luke 16 use the term 'parable'? |
Bible Note: Greetings CurtMan! I appreciate your input my friend! My question though was addressed to an individual who denies that Hell is a reality. The account of Lazarus and the Rich man is presented as an historical account. Thus, those who would deny the reality of Hell must explain this passage away. So, the reason for my question was simply to challenge this individual to show from Scripture where this account is called a parable. Obviously, he can't! :-) Those who deny the reality of Hell will try to make this account a parable, because then they can deny that individuals are conscious after death, that individuals are punished after death for sin unless they have accepted Christ, ect.... That is why this issue is important. I fully agree with you that parables do not mention people by name! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
