Bible Note: Hi keruxib 12, Yes, we are "almost" saying the same thing. In my own personal study I would not see Ephesians 5:19 (I believe you meant that verse rather than 16) and Colossians 3:16 as a perfect match; but that is definitely what the passages are saying. There is that connection of being filled with the spirit and letting the word richly dwell in us, which we both have written about and see. There are some other things to consider in Ephesians so that we are not deceived by "empty words", Ephesians 5:6. For instance, are we children of "light", NASB, 1977 copy, or children of "Light", NASB, 1995. For Ephesians 5:9 do we go with the NASB (l)Light or with the NKJ "fruit of the Spirit". For Ephesians 5:14 are we translating/interpreting what the word (it, NASB) says or what He says (NKJ)? In all these things, we are trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Ephesians 5:10. 1) We differ in how we look at the (w)Word. When speaking of the Scriptures I use a lower case "word". For instance, John 17:17, "Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth." 2) I was led today to look also at two other Scriptures. Job 32:8, "But it is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding." Job 32:18, "For I am full of words; The spirit within me constrains me." From the heart, Ray |
