Bible Note: Hi Aixen7z4, We know from Acts 5:3 and 4 that the Holy Spirit is God. "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit,...?...You have not lied to men, but to God." The Holy Spirit is the active agent in our lives and is not a thing but a Person. 2 Peter 1:21, "for no prophecy was ever made by act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." However, none of the verses concerning being filled with the holy spirit or receiving the holy spirit or being baptized with the holy spirit have wording that compels me to capitalize. Even you yourself have said "that the thing he [I would say He] fills us with becomes a spirit and a characteristic in our lives, be it power, love, or what not." Consider this interpretation for what it is worth: Acts 2:4, "And they were all filled with the *holy *spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance." Compare Acts 2:17,18 with John 3:2. Consider how the wind was blowing and the spirit moving. Consider for yourself a pouring forth of His *spirit for Acts 2:17. You ended your post with Philippians 2:13. Please consider this interpretation for the verse since God is not an "it". Philippians 2:13, "for God is the One who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." May the word of Christ dwell in us richly, making us united in spirit and soul, intent on one purpose, being of a kindred spirit. Phil 2:2-20. From the heart, Ray |
