Subject: Pattern of words? |
Bible Note: Hi Aixen7z4, Thank you for your time and work on this well written post. I appreciate that you have put your Scripture references in parentheses so that I and others can look them up easily. I agree with you that "He fills our minds with the word of God (John 14:26) so we can share it with power (Hebrews 4:12)." I appreciate also your last sentence "And God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Scripture reference? I am happy to see you that you are open to considering a lower case "spirit" and recognize that the spirit given us is not one of timidity but that there is power in it. We are given words of wisdom, not the wisdom of men but God's wisdom, and we speak in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. (1 Cor 2:4) Consider this interpretation for what it is worth: 1 Corinthians 2:12, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the *spirit which is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God." 1) I would welcome any comments that you might have concerning John 3:34. Consider the questions in post #147697. 2) I find no compelling reason to capitalize any of the Scripture references concerning "being filled with the (h)Holy (s)Spirit". 3) Judges 13,14,15 speaks of the Spirit coming upon Samson, but that is different from being filled. 4) Isaiah 11:2: I would go with the NKJ for this verse for it speaks of the Spirit of wisdom and understanding that comes upon Him, that is Christ. 5) Ephesians 5:18 does not read "by" the Spirit, but "with" the Spirit. And my interpretation of the verse would have a lower case "filled with the spirit". That is something that we are to do; in contrast to getting drunk with wine like some would do. Thanks again for your post. From the heart, Ray |
