Subject: Diff. btw receiving and being filled |
Bible Note: Hi keruxib 12, The question is concerned with the filling of the Holy Spirit, but what I would have you consider is a lower case "holy spirit". The Greek does not have a distinction of lower and upper case, so the Scriptures do not give us a clear understanding. I would say that the Scriptures are telling us to be filled with the holy spirit. I would say that the Scriptures are telling us to be washed by the word, filled with the word, preaching the word. The spirit that we are to be filled with are the psalms and hymns and spiritual songs; Ephesians 5:16. When the word of Christ richly dwells within us we teach and admonish one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs; Colossians 3:16. We give thanks for all things in the name of our Lord/ Jesus Christ; Ephesians 5:20. We give thanks through Him/ to God the Father. Colossians 3:17. 1) Ephesians 3:10, "trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord." [Marginal note, Lit. proving what]. Colossians 3:16, "Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,..."
