Bible Note: Hi there navynerd, Thank you for your response. Although you give a more complete answer than anyone else, you fail to answer my questions, were the Pharisees wrong to continue a tradition of washing hands? As you probably know, God commanded Aaron and the priesthood as a tradition forever to wash before going into the temple and eating. If this was an instruction from God to be endured forever to all generations, how is it that the Pharisees were wrong about it? I agree with you that eating with unwashed hands may never harm you, but as a directive from God, doesn't it make sense to you that it is an excellent practice in light of all the microorganisms such as viruses, germs and bacteria that have been discovered and exist abundantly in our world? God knew from ancient times that hand washing was a beneficial practice. Were the Pharisees wrong to continue the tradition of washing hands? According to Jesus, they were. That and the death penalty questions are what I am trying to have answered. Thanks, Dave |
