Subject: Why couldn't Herod have Herodias? |
Bible Note: Hi, Ray You can respond when you get back if you like. So by the statement "I can't think of one place where Scriptures talk of God's Word" are you saying: I can't think of one place where Scripture is defined as God's Word? Would this be an accurate paraphrase? Your scriptures are truth. I interpret it as "Sanctify them in the Truth; Your Word is Truth." Because I do not believe scripture sanctifies ( Holiness of life, the quality or condition of being considered sacred) because many quote scripture and teach scripture from an intelectual perspective but the scripture has not sanctified them in their heart).Only the Holy Spirit breathed Truth in our heart transforms us. Is sanctification simply the external setting apart or the internal transformation? If sanctification is the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit then Word is Truth fits. 2Thess.2:13 seems to agree. 'salvation through the sanctifying work of the (Holy) Spirit and (your) belief in (adherence to, trust in and reliance on) the Truth. This is so much more than mental assent to the words printed on the page, but progresses to actively believing/doing/becoming what the revealed Truth burns in our spirit. Counting pronouns in John? I do not know if I have time but will pray about it. God bless, and looking forward to talking when you get back. |
