Subject: Why couldn't Herod have Herodias? |
Bible Note: Scripture ... Gen 38:8; Lev 18:16, 20:21; Deu 25:5-10 ... Disciplerami, Even before the law of what to do if a widow had no son (Deu 25:5-10), there was the principle (Gen 38:8). While Herod was a half-Jew (half-Edomite), John felt it was his duty to remind him of what God said (Lev 18:16, 20:21). Based on Scripture, I presume that Herod's brother was alive. Herod didn't say the Law didn't apply to him. Searcher |
