Bible Note: Hi gracefull, I appreciate your hearing me out, and even making some changes. I had to smile at your (penciled) mode of change; isn't great that we can change our minds without fear, sending us back over and over to reconsider what is true. We want to know Him who is the Truth. The one place where I have penciled in a phrase is "Thy Word is Truth." I know that "Thy word is truth", is correct for John 17:17. But Thy Word is Truth gives too much glory to the Son alone to my mind, even in a context outside of the Scriptures. I believe that Jesus and the Father are one. They are the Way and the Truth in the one God. I add a pronoun that is implied in the Greek for Philippians 2:13. I think that it is important for understanding the Teacher and the Way of salvation. Philippians 2:13, "for it is God who is the *One who is at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure." We are thinking of these things and doing these things without grumbling or disputing, proving that we are children of this one Life. This is because we hold fast the word of life. 1 John 4:1, "By this you know the *spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God;..." I see the life of God in the Scriptures but I think that we have to keep in mind that not only is He God on paper or papyrus; He is God with us in the flesh. So I would say that you should distinguish between scripture and diety or as I would say Scripture and Deity.:) (No unequal yoke, either way). Can I influence you to pencil in a change toward "His/Their word (scripture) are inseparable"? I believe the triune God is three in one God and/or the Triune God is Three in One. I think that He and His Word are one. I think that we should distinguish the Word from the word (Holy Bible). This is hard on paper because most people want to give honor to the Scriptures by capitalization of Word. Thanks for your thoughts. From the heart, Ray |
