Bible Question: Our Lord distinctly said these things would take place: why are we not seeing these manifestations of power in our churches today? |
Bible Answer: There are a number of reasons for this: 1) 2 Tim. 3:5 states, "holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these." How true that is today. That the gospel is not enough to bring people to the lord. They put their faith in the method and not in the Word of God. I listeneed to a college course on personal evangelism, and all they tought was how to get the word out, different methods. As far as I am concerned if you can speak you can get the Word of God out. I have also noticed in my own walk that when God wants you to bring forth the Gospel message the Holy Spirit will make it know to you, and you won't have to guess "Is this the right time to speak." People have also started following the traditions of man instead of God. How many churches do you go into today that says this is how you must worship or this is out "constitution" It can not be changed for any reason? I have seen a lot of churches who do this. I think the apostle Paul would not be welcomed to these churches because they He wouldn't conform to their image. Also you hear in churches today to "Bow your heads and don't look around if anyone wants to except Jesus today raise your hand and put it back down" THis is far from what the bible teaches. In romans 10:9 says, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" Even some churches today make you feel ashamed to accept Christ and for you to do it privately. This is not Biblical. People in other parts of the world accept Christ knowing they will probably die for there belief. God bless those people. 3) Another thing is that if a gift is given to a man and He abuses it in some way. People say that this gift cannot be of God. My question to them is why can't it be? Man isn't perfect and God knows this but yet the bible states God will not repent for giving His gifts. 4) Faith is a big issue, people who have faith that God no longer heals, or other gifts of the Spirt then that is what they will recieve. That is just a few reasons that I see. |
