Bible Question: What does the Bible say about suicide? I have been looking all over trying to find some information to share with someone about suicide not being an easy escape to heaven, but keep coming up empty. Does anyone have any insight on this topic or somewhere I could be sent to find out more on this topic. Thanx. |
Bible Answer: The account about suicide I could think of is Judas. Mt 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. If we can see he committed suicide because of guilt, not remembering what Jesus Christ taught. If judas only remember that Christ can still forgive Him on His sin, he maybe asking it instead of hang himself. Lu 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots Christian as a son of God, is not fearful, we are strong remembering that we are sons of God. Committing suicide sometimes is a result of lack of faith, fearful, and guilt. Re 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Christ also taught us to love our nighbor as we love our self, meaning we have to love our self, remembering that it is a temple of Christ. Mr 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Lastly, God commanded us not to kill: Thou shall not kill. suicide is killing. Christ said, those who can enter the Kingdom of heaven, are those who do the will of the Father. I am sure suicide is not a part of that WILL. Mt 7:21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. |
