Subject: Heb 6:4-6 |
Bible Note: candy lee, if these verses in Hebrews 6 describe people who are Christians who actually "lose" their salvation, they also teach that it is impossible to be saved a second time. Thus, if they came to Christ of their own "free will" in the first place and fall away of their own "free will," their "free will" is not sufficient to permit them to renew them to repentence (see Hebrews 6:6). If their "free will" is sufficient to bring them to salvation, and by exercising their "free will" they can "lose" it, why, do you suppose, their "free will" is not sufficient to nenew them again to repentence? Additionally, does this passage teach that a "backslider" (one who falls away) has forfeited all hope of salvation? Do you see a possible exegesis of this passage that is different from yours -- one that does not conflict with other passages of Scripture? ...... Another pair of questions for reflection. Who gives eternal life? If it is eternal, who can take it away? --Hank |
