Bible Question:
Hank: Just so I do no assume the wrong thing may I ask you a question? Thank you, I will. Are you saying we should not use Sunday School material? Being a Souther Baptist for some time, I have found the Southern Baptist are very loyal to their printed and published materials mostly from the publishing house in Nashville. Which I find no fault in. I found that except for two small areas, about democratic form of governing a church, and ordination of women in positions other than pastor, I would support the New Baptist Faith and Message. Thewe to differences are no reason to disfellowship over as far as I am concernedd. Any thoughts? Blessings. justme |
Bible Answer: Justme - It has never been my stand that nothing should be used in addition to the biblical text in Bible study classes. I'm hard pressed to think of anything more moronic than to cast out the vast body of scholarly work by spiritually discerned men and women that has been amassed since the dawning of God's revealed word to man. My point was, and is, that the Bible text should be the sole and final authoritative text, and that no secular work should replace it. But there is, it seems to me, a significant difference between the meanings of "replacement of Scripture" and "exposition on Scripture." ...... Quite possibly the questions of SBC polity relating to church government and its position on the role of women in the church are not germane to this thread, and thus I withhold comment. --Hank |
