Bible Note: Dear Brother WOS, Great questions! I always like how you think! I took the day off from work. I'm rather all "written out" tonight. I also have to go to my son's wedding tomorrow. Do you know how much I love weddings? Almost not at all, actually. :-) Anyway, I look forward to discussing these things. However, if you will allow, I'll answer more extensively in a couple of days. The short/quick answers are: The fallen nature is passed on through the seed of Adam. This concept of the seed is throughout Scripture. Check it out. All women are of the seed of Adam, but they, apparently, are not the ones through which the sin nature is passed. (As a side bar, you might be interested in the short thread 150928. These questions have been discussed by theologians extensively in history.) You are right about Christ being a "total creation of God." Since Jesus was of the seed of David (Acts 13:23), we may conclude that Mary contributed to Jesus genetic makeup. Yet from biology we know that males can only be born by the introduction of Y chromosomal material. Consequently, the Holy Spirit divinely and miraculously intervened in the normal process in order to bring about her conception of the infant Jesus. This was an unprecedented creative act of God! To me, these facts only contribute to the wonder of the birth of our Savior. In Him, Doc |
