Subject: define speaking in tongues. |
Bible Note: Johnk, I agree with you 100 percent about what you said concerning the gift of speaking in tongues. They were show gifts that preceded the completion of the cannon of Scripture. It is even shown that Paul lost his gift of healing because he had to leave Trophimus in Miletum sick. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. Obviously Paul couldn't heal him of his sickness. Paul also made a statement in I Cor. 1 Cor. 13:9-10 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. The word perfect comes to us from the Koine Greek word (TELEION) and is better translated completion and is in the neuter gender and is a reference to the culmination of God's Word which we call the Bible. It is evident that Paul was cognoscente of the fact that there would be a assembling of God's word into a single unit of scrolls. The only part of your statement that I think would be stretching a point is the plagues that are found in the book of revelation, with reference to prophecy of (this book), singular, the last book of the 66 that we have.
