Bible Note: Another note: The apostles had powers that we do not have today. They spoke in tongues, performed miracles, and even rose the dead. So, if it is as you say, that we are to still speak in tongues and perform miracles, how come none of us can do the other things that the apostles have done, like, raise the dead? Right after Jesus ascended to Heaven, the apostles went and did as he commanded. In the book of acts, we read about their miracles, speaking in tongues, healing the sick, and raising the dead. Christ gave them the power to do so. But now, we have the Word, and the proof, written in the Bible. Those miracles were done at that time to facilitate the completion of the Book. And, as the book was to be completed soon, Paul noted that these things would stop, but that love would continue. Also, in the book of revelations, we have a solemn warning: Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: |
