861 | Taught of the Spirit today? | Col 3:23 | Mommapbs | 30928
Greetings in Jesus Name! Earlier this week I had a very humbling experience as I was obedient to God in service to a friend. Afterward, I struggled with all sorts of "stuff" like self doubt and approval issues. However, I have incredible peace about the situation as God nearly shouted the following to me: Seek the applause of Heaven rather than the praise of men! Remember Who you are really working for! (Your Heavenly Father always claps the loudest!) |

862 | The term for God who sent him in Exodus | Ex 3:14 | Mommapbs | 30924
One of the best answers I heard on this question is so appropriate for even today. God told Moses to tell the children of Israel that "I AM sent you." God did not say, "I WAS;" nor did He say "I WILL BE." He said "I AM" because HE IS WHATEVER YOU NEED HIM TO BE AT THIS VERY MOMENT! Blessings to you! Mommapbs |

863 | Spiritual understanding? | John 4:23 | Mommapbs | 30922
Greetings! Amazing that you would ask as just this morning I was reflecting on this Scripture! God is so awesome, to knit believers together in Him even in cyberspace! This verse suggests that worship is to be balanced. Worship in the Spirit, apart from the Truth (the Word of God)is akin to mysticism. Worship without the Spirit results in legalism (and/or ritualism?) Because of the indwelling of the Lord, believers have this privilege to worship God as He desires! In John 15:5 Jesus said, "apart from me you can do nothing." (Even worship!) |

864 | Who is the 'backslider in heart'? | Prov 14:14 | Mommapbs | 30842
Greetings Nolan! My study Bible has a cross reference to Jer 3:6 which indicates that this "daughter" refers to Israel. But according to the Amplified version, I suspect that God had many sons and daughters in mind! A backslider in heart - what a convicting description! Many times I find myself distracted and self centered. So often I find so much "fruit" of my own making that I am starving! It is a struggle to maintain my focus on God and His desires. Any suggestions? Blessings to you, Mommapbs |

866 | Who is Israel? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 30531
Greetings Veronica! Israel refers to God's chosen people as a nation. Although once again a nation-state, Israel encompasses all descendents of Jacob as a boundariless "nation." Abraham was called the father of many nations. The Israelites were one of those nations. It was through Israel's bloodline that God chose to reveal Himself. What a blessing! The first Christians were Jews. Israelites can become Christians, but Gentiles cannot become Israelites! But thanks be to God that through faith in Jesus, we can all be "adopted" as God's children! There are promises in God's Word for everyone. Some, however, are specifically for the House of Israel. There are also promises for all believers and then there are even promises for unbelievers! God has much in store in the days ahead for the House of Israel - keep watching! |

867 | The Forum -- Your Opinion? | Romans | Mommapbs | 30523
Greetings Hank! As a relatively new participant I must thank you for asking this! The Forum is not only a place to grow and explore, but it is also very humbling. Sometimes I am saddened by the posts I read(for a variety of reasons) and at other times I am overwhelmed with what I learn. The Lord has used this Forum to sharpen and challenge as well as convict! Thank you LOCKMAN FOUNDATION for making this possible. While I lack the "credentials" of other participants, I do not lack anything in Jesus. There is one thing I hope Forum contributors would consider doing: please write your personal profile! How wonderful to be connected with others of "like precious faith" across the globe! Tell us where you are, not only in the world, but also in your walk with the Lord too! (And remember to update as necessary!) In Jesus! Mommapbs |

868 | Placing more burdens on you? | 1 Cor 10:13 | Mommapbs | 30520
"No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it."1 Cor 10:13 All to often believers mistakenly use this Scripture and translate temptations into "burdens." As far as carrying burdens, they need to be carried no further than the cross! Jesus promises us that in the world we will have trouble (John 16:33) but in the same verse He encourages and assures us that HE has overcome the world! Jesus reminds us (John 15:5) that apart from Him, we can do nothing. He will never give us anything more than HE can bear! What does this tell you about your burdens? In His peace, Mommapbs |

869 | Are we in the last days? | Acts 2:17 | Mommapbs | 30509
Greetings maroon! I agree with other posts on this verse (cf Joel 2: 28-32) that the time period for this event is after the rapture of the Church. However, I believe we are indeed in the last days of what we commonly refer to as the "church age." An interesting sidebar: After Sept 11th, Billy Graham shared the Gospel from the National Cathedral. This message was silmultaneously translated LIVE throughout the world so that everyone "heard it together." We have had the technology to do this for many years, just not the ocassion. Interesting to think about in light of Matthew 24:14 isn't it? Believers, let us not be ignorant of these things! God has given us signs of His coming throughout history. Let's not let our "theologies" sidetrack us from our glorious hope in Him. He will come, when He comes! Perhaps we should all be "pan-TRIB" - this means that it will all "pan out" in the END! (Pun intended!) Greater is He who is in US than he who is in the world! And praise God, Jesus is coming to claim His bride! See 1 Thess 5:8-10 Waiting expectantly, Mommapbs |

870 | Why woe the rich and well-fed? | Rev 3:17 | Mommapbs | 29733
Good question KamanUCI! Jesus tells us that HIS grace is sufficient for us (2Cor 12:9)and the He will supply all our needs . . .(Phil 4:19) All too often, according to this warning to the church at Laodicea, those who are satisfied by the fruit of their labor are blind. They fail to recognize that there is a famine in their soul. When we have no needs, it is difficult to see spiritual poverty. Jesus said to the rich young ruler, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!(Matthew 19:24) Indeed it is much to mourn and sorrow over for those who trust in their own strength will enter eternity without God! No amount of "air miles" will take the rich (or the poor for that matter) to heaven! Jesus is the only way. Apart from Him,we can do nothing! |

872 | Can we worship outside of our community? | John 4:23 | Mommapbs | 29596
I think that perhaps we should emphasize HOW we worship rather than where! But in answer to your question . . . So, of course we can worship anywhere . . . but . . . We must not forget the importance of "assembling ourselves together;" joining in worship with a local body of believers is pleasing to the Lord. We lift our praises and adoration of Jesus in unity and in harmony! Being in a local worshipping community is also important because in our union, we are able to minister to one another with the gifts that God has given for our individual and corporate edification. (See 1 Corinthians 12!) |

873 | Ho, every one who thrist come | Is 55:1 | Mommapbs | 29591
Greetings! God's Word tells us "So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Pet 1:19-21 And also in 2 Timothy 3:16 we read that "All Scripture is God-breathered . . ." (or inspired) So, based upon what these passages say, WHO do YOU think is speaking in the first verse of Isaiah? |

874 | Please explain God's romantic love. | Luke 20:34 | Mommapbs | 28987
Since God said "Let Us make man in Our own image, according to Our likeness;" (Genesis 1:26)and He made us male and female, it can be reasoned that within the Godhead are components of both genders. Throughout Scripture, Israel is the "beloved of God" yet she went whoring after other gods. Who would rescue this "damsel in distress?" The King loved her with an Everlasting Love! He wanted her, but He couldn't come as a king, for He wanted her to love Him for Himself alone. You know the rest of the story! John Eldredge tells The Sacred Romance as a story of God's love and redepmtion for the object of His love - US! Bottom line is, at the beginning of Act III, on the night of the wedding, the bride was caught sleeping with the best man and the Groom wanted to marry her anyway! I encourage you to not stop or get hung up on the physical nature, for "The Sacred Romance" is inherently spiritual. Do continue on to read "The Journey of Desire and expecially written for men, "Wild at Heart." I have heard John speak and if you are interested, I will include in this thread, a copy of what I learned about the greatest love story ever told! |

875 | Who is Mithra? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Mommapbs | 28896
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 2 Timothy 3:16 Mithra does not appear in God's Word, therefore it does not relate to Jesus or to the Christian faith other than as an "antichrist." 1 John 4:3 "and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world." We are warned against adding to or taking away from what God has given! "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; Rev. 22:18 |

876 | 12 horns of david | Dan 7:24 | Mommapbs | 28636
Where in God's Word do you read about 12 Horns? Could you be thinking about this portion of Scripture in your question? "He gave me this explanation: The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever." Daniel 7:23-26 From Scripture, this union of ten kings, as described in Daniel, will come out of a kingdom that is different from any other kingdom prior to it in history. Some prophetic scholars suggest that this confederacy may be the EU. A "kingdom" based upon a global economy. I may be thinking out of the box here but could this "fourth kingdom" be a religious one - consider Islam? Certainly this would be different from other kingdoms! And is not jihad a different kind of conquering? Could this coalition described in Daniel possibly be an Islamic Confederation that has yet to arise? From God's Word we are assured that this union from a kingdom will come to be; and God will reveal it in His time. “Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him. This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to myself." Daniel 7:27-8 Jesus said, “Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know where I am going and how to get there . . . I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Even so, Come Lord Jesus! |

877 | How does Deut. 4:9 relate to my life? | Josh 22:5 | Mommapbs | 28616
Deut. 4:9 "Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons." First things first! Pay attention to YOUR relationship with God. It is your walk that others watch and validates the things that you say! How God has blessed you, what He has done, is secondary to your obedience to Him FIRST! (This is "keeping your soul diligently!")See also Joshua 22:5. Things that we have seen can be blessings of obedience and the consequences of disobedience. These are both important truths to communicate to others, especially our children. "Children obey your parents;" Husbands love your wives," and ohter relational commands are not suggestions! God gives us families to practice the kind of relationship He wants to have with us. We come to know Him not only through His Word, but also through our experiences with Him. As we trust and obey Him in little things, He gives us bigger assignments. The purpose of these is not only to know Him but TO MAKE HIM KNOWN! As a parent or grandparent or friend, we have a sobering responsibility in our walk with the Lord to come to know and love Him. (If you love me you will keep my commandments John 14:15 also 1 John 5:3) As our love for Him grows, so will the burning desire grow within us for others to know and share in that same love. God's love is made complete in us when we love others! I'm sure you have people in your life who are perhaps more difficult to love than others. Trusting God to enable you to love them unconditionally will affect your responses to them. These are the actions that others will see. When they SEE God's love at work in your life, this is a way that you hand down what you have seen to your children! I hope this gives you something to think about - it did me while I considered your question, for I'm not only a mother but a grama too! |

878 | Do deacons have to be married? | 1 Tim 3:12 | Mommapbs | 28605
I don't see marriage as a requirement for service, but rather a guideline for a deacon's qualifications. Above all, the man set apart or who desires to serve in such a way must be beyond reproach (1 Timothy 3:10) IF the man is married, he must be the husband of one wife. For this is the relationship that God has used to express His desire for us - to have intimate and exclusive union with Him alone! I think that the Apostle Paul expressed his views on marriage (1 Cor. 7)from the perspective of HIS ministry - He was a missionary and travelled throughout Asia Minor spreading the Gospel. Now if he was married, would his ministry have been as effective? For Paul, marriage was unacceptable and I believe God granted him the ability to live a single life that honored the Lord. Notice that Paul is well aware of our passions and desires! This passage affirms that God demands our fidelity. Celibacy can be an expression of our fidelity to God alone, but it is not demanded as evidence of our devotion to Him or a qualification for the priesthood. 1 Corinthians 7:32-34 "I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs--how he can please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world--how he can please his wife--and his interests are divided." Consider both 1 Timothy 3 and 1 Corinthians 7, then prayerfully ask God to reveal HIS answer FOR you! |

879 | how to forgive this child and love him | John | Mommapbs | 28446
Greetings Saveda! Thousands of years ago, God asked a similar question in the Garden of Eden. His answer was Jesus. He is still the answer today! In Jesus alone is perfect love and forgiveness. After reading your second post, it appears that you are truly seeking to know God. Jesus is the love of God revealed to us - do you know Him? I know that I speak boldly for others, but we'll help you here in this forum. Keep asking questions! Scripture for meditation: 1 John 4 |

880 | IS PRODUCING"GOLD DUST"@CHURCH A GENUINE | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 28443
HOW DOES ONE KNOW A GENUINE SIGN FROM GOD DONE BY A PERSON? There is no genuine sign from God done BY a person. Even regarding the work of our Lord Jesus Christ, it was His yielded submission to the power of God within Him that enabled Him . . . Acts 2:22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know." Signs and wonders belonging to God are accomplished through an individual by the working of the Holy Spirit. Acts 14:3 "So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders." We are reminded to "test the spirits." Not every spirit testifies of Jesus Christ. 1 John 4:1"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." We are also warned in 2 Thess. 2:9 -"The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders," ASK GOD for discernment -He will answer you when you seek HIM with a sincere heart. John 4:48 "Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe." John 20:29 "Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." I hope these Scriptures help! |
