Bible Question: Who is Israel? Are Christians now Israel in the spritual sense or does Israel just refer to a bloodline or Jewish people? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Veronica! Israel refers to God's chosen people as a nation. Although once again a nation-state, Israel encompasses all descendents of Jacob as a boundariless "nation." Abraham was called the father of many nations. The Israelites were one of those nations. It was through Israel's bloodline that God chose to reveal Himself. What a blessing! The first Christians were Jews. Israelites can become Christians, but Gentiles cannot become Israelites! But thanks be to God that through faith in Jesus, we can all be "adopted" as God's children! There are promises in God's Word for everyone. Some, however, are specifically for the House of Israel. There are also promises for all believers and then there are even promises for unbelievers! God has much in store in the days ahead for the House of Israel - keep watching! |
