801 | how should christians view evolution | 1 Tim 6:3 | Mommapbs | 28214
Please read "Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution" by Michael J. Behe! Even a non-scientist can understand the brillant case Behe makes against the possibility of evolution! I gave my son a t-shirt for Christmas that reads: "Big Bang Theory. . .you've got to be kidding!" God. |

802 | "doctrine of demons"? | 1 Tim 6:4 | Mommapbs | 46977
Greetings Kalos! I am confused here by your last 3 postings. You referenced this id# 46808 which is: D.D. do you have Biblical support? For both of these .. -you go to paradise (if you are saved) until the time of judgement -the judgement is where you will receive crowns for the good things you have done on earth. Plus -if you are NOT saved while you await judgement or if you are just in a "holding pattern" Searcher Has this been responded to yet by the orignal author? Obviously, the request for biblical support is valid! So why not offer it and send a copy to the author as well? Also,I can see from what you have "cut and pasted" from another's post that the Father of Lies is still "roaring around." If you believe abuse has ocurred, please report it to the Lockman Foundation. |

803 | Matt. 5:13 | 2 Tim 1:14 | Mommapbs | 104282
Greetings eemaj - salt is a preservative as well as an additive that perks up the flavor of foods. If the salt looses its ability to preserve or perk up, what good is it? We might as well be sprinkling sand . . . and who wants to eat THAT?! Likewise, as believers we have a testimony and a reputation to uphold as witnesses for the Lord Jesus Christ. If we lose THAT, of what good are we to those who do not know the Savior. Therefore, I exhort you to consider the encouragemnet of Paul to Timothy, to GUARD what has been entrusted to you - the very knowledge and love of God through Jesus. You are indeed the "salt of the earth" for where your life is sprinkled, the preserving (and perking!) life of Christ is spread - I hope this helps! In Him, mommapbs |

804 | Am I accountable for what I don't know? | 2 Tim 2:15 | Mommapbs | 46517
Greetings virtouswoman! "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20 (read the rest of this chapter) "There is no fear of God before their eyes." Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. Romans 3:18-20 "Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment." Ecc. 11:9 We are all accountable before God and therefore should make every effort to discover what pleases Him. We have His Word on the matter, just because we don't know it is NOT an excuse to sin! The solution: read it! "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word." Psalm 119:9 Now, let me give you a personal example. A new believer had visited a medium with a group of friends. When she told me about her experience I told her that God's Word forbids this. She was stricken and declared, "I never knew this before!" She was accountable. Her response? She repented. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 I hope these Scriptures help! Mommapbs |

806 | Called According To HIS Purpose-Ministry | 2 Tim 2:15 | Mommapbs | 121628
Greetings! I'm not going to question your calling, but I do have some concerns about your preparedness. From our recent dialog, it appeared that you were not clear on the doctrine of propitiation. How can one who does not understand the elementary teaching of the Gospel play a role in the ordination of others? I would suggest that you prepare yourself first. 2 Tim 2:15; 4:6 Are you currently under the teaching of an elder or Pastor? In this way, when those under your care have questions (such as you first posed on this Forum) you will be able to answer them. Being set apart by God for God is humbling. Yet I suspect that there is always a certain amount of pride associated with this that the believer struggles with. Might I suggest that those who you perceive as being called into ministry be brought before the church for examination and let the church confirm their appointment? Jesus warns us about being "blind guides." Lk 6:39 Blessings, mommapbs |

807 | Is hetero-anal sex a sin? | 2 Tim 2:20 | Mommapbs | 131906

808 | Who is Mithra? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Mommapbs | 28896
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 2 Timothy 3:16 Mithra does not appear in God's Word, therefore it does not relate to Jesus or to the Christian faith other than as an "antichrist." 1 John 4:3 "and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world." We are warned against adding to or taking away from what God has given! "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; Rev. 22:18 |

809 | how do we know that verse is accurate? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Mommapbs | 49161
1 Chr 28:9 "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever." Bravostarr - This is a very sobering verse. Please read it and decide if you REALLY DESIRE to KNOW the TRUTH. Truth is a person. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. John 14:6 "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." Read John 1. Jesus is the Word. Bottom line is this, either you accept God's Word as TRUTH or you reject it. It's your decision; choose carefully. In Christ's love, Mommapbs |

812 | is bible real? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Mommapbs | 123804
Yes Tami, God's Word is real. 2 Peter 1 :21 also says, that its origin is not from man, but from God. As Timothy says, we can depend upon the Bible to instruct us in all things. The Bible is our source of Truth; it is real whether you choose to believe it or not! Blessings, mommapbs |

814 | Define Evangelist | 2 Tim 4:5 | Mommapbs | 86973
According to Easton's: Evangelist - a "publisher of glad tidings;" a missionary preacher of the gospel (Eph. 4:11). This title is applied to Philip (Acts 21:8), who appears to have gone from city to city preaching the word (8:4, 40). Judging from the case of Philip, evangelists had neither the authority of an apostle, nor the gift of prophecy, nor the responsibility of pastoral supervision over a portion of the flock. They were itinerant preachers, having it as their special function to carry the gospel to places where it was previously unknown. The writers of the four Gospels are known as the Evangelists. According to The Catholic Encyclopedia: In the New Testament this word, in its substantive form, occurs only three times: Acts, xxi, 8; Eph., iv, 11; II Tim., iv, 5. It seems to indicate not so much an order in the early ecclesiastical hierarchy as a function. The Apostles, indeed, were evangelists, inasmuch as they preached the Gospel (Acts, viii, 25; xiv, 20; I Cor., i, 17); Philip likewise was both a deacon (Acts, vi, 5) and an evangelist (Acts, viii, 4-5; 40; xxi, 8); in like manner was St. Timothy exhorted by St. Paul to do the work of an evangelist (II Tim., iv, 5). From the various statements contained in the New Testament, we may gather with some probability that evangelists were travelling missionaries, occasionally solemnly set apart, as seems to have been the case with Sts. Paul and Barnabas (Acts, xiii, 1-3), to go about and preach the Gospel, yet sometimes with a settled place of abode, as Philip at Cæsarea, and Timothy at Ephesus. They were endowed with a special charisma to preach to those unacquainted with the Christian Faith and pave the way for the more thorough and systematic work of the pastors and teachers. But their office, as such, seems to have extended no further, so, for instance, we understand from Acts, viii, 4 sqq., that Philip, who preached successfully in Samaria and baptized many, was not qualified to impart the Holy Ghost to the converts (verse 14). Accordingly, St. Paul, in his list of the gifts bestowed by Christ for the edification of the Church, Eph., iv, 11 (in I Cor., xii, 28, they are omitted), mentions the evangelists in the third place, only after the Apostles and the Prophets. In the writings of the Apostolic Fathers, no reference is made to evangelists; travelling missionaries are sometimes called "apostles", sometimes also, as in the Didache, they are styled "teachers". I am perplexed about your question of authority - can you elaborate? God's Word sets the order for there to be One Shepherd. John 10:16; Rev 7:17 Authority apart from God is not authority. Mt 28:18, Rom 13:1. Jesus condemned the pharisees who "seated themselves" in the "seat of Moses" (illegitimately) Mt 23:2 I hope these Scriptures help answer your question. mommapbs |

815 | Paul-Written proof of how he died? | 2 Tim 4:6 | Mommapbs | 60895
Greetings Sharon, apart from Paul's awareness that his time was short, Scripture does not shed any light Paul's death. We know from God's Word that Paul was eager to be with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8)but how he passed from life to Life is not recorded. Perhaps this is a hint from God that the means to our end (earthly death)is not as important as the means to our eternal Life (Jesus!) It is important know the difference between "tradition" and Truth! I think this verse sums it up: "The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My word speak My word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain?" declares the LORD. Jer 23:28 See also Ps. 119:160 Blessings, Mommapbs |

816 | Lord reward him according to his works? | 2 Tim 4:14 | Mommapbs | 94068
Greetings Pastor Glenn - how instructive! Yet as we consider those who "do evil" to us, how do we often respond? For example, the guy who cuts you off on the highway . . . what are we inclined to think, say or do? I suspect that most of us get angry, and offer a few unkind (or otherwise unprintable) words or gestures in a forward direction; some may even return the "favor" at the earliest convenience. How many of us respond as Paul did, " the Lord reward him according to his works."? It is not our right to exact revenge (vengence belongs to the Lord; He will repay! Romans 12:19) So every time we attempt to "get even" - we "rob" God! (Makes you stop and think doesn't it?) More importantly, we need to examine WHY we react the way we do when others "wrong" us. An attitude adjustment is in order. We are told to "love our enemies and do good to those who persecute us" (see Lk 6:27,35) We are told to "forgive one another just as God, in Chrsit has forgiven you." (Eph 4:22) When we fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and FINISHER of our faith . . . we see others as God sees them . . . this will make a difference in HOW we respond! mommapbs |

818 | god owes us salvation by our works? | Titus 3:5 | Mommapbs | 67314
Greetings CMOORE:If you are a Muslim, this is sound theology for the Quran demands that followers of allah be willing to die for him. But for the Christ follower, our God died for us! God's Word says, "God demonstrated His love for us in this: while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!" (Romans 5:8) See Titus 3:4-8 and Ephesians 2:8-10. Both of these passages show that salvation is NOT EARNED but instead, it is a free gift of God to those who believe - the works or the deeds that follow, also belong to God as He works through us to accomplish His good and perfect will. mommapbs PS: How about sharing MOORE about yourself with the Forum and fill out the personal profile section! |

819 | John12:1-9 | Titus 3:5 | Mommapbs | 73327
Greetings sweet. We should not let the approval or disapproval of others rob us of what we have IN CHRIST. Jesus did not pronounce Mary good because of her actions, nor did her actions show others her "goodness." Our goodness is wrought only BY CHRIST! Nothing we do will ever make any of us “good” or acceptable in the sight of God. Mary’s actions were the result of the attitude of her heart toward Jesus. She saw in HIM, the only TRUE source of love and acceptance that really mattered. We always will have opportunity to respond to others, but Jesus reminds us of the necessity and urgency of our response to Him by His affirmation of Mary in this passage. He is not focused on her actions, but rather on her heart! "Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your hearts." (Heb 4:7) The time to respond to the offer of mercy and grace is NOW. None of us has to “prove” anything to anyone else, for Jesus did it all for us on Calvary. He alone makes us acceptable to God. Nothing we do will cause God to love us any more or less than He does IN Christ right now. (2 Cor 5:12-21) Christ has set us free from the law, let's not become enslaved to it!(Romasn 8:2) Blessings, mommapbs |
