761 | Is reverence feasible? Always? . . . | Eph 5:33 | Mommapbs | 65479
Greetings srchng! “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.” 1 John 4:18 I'm wondering how "perfect love casts out fear" in the relationship between men and women today? Perhaps when we see one another from God's perspective, we can truly be obedient to His Word. As believers desiring to be obedient to God's Word, we must shift our emphasis from following the LAW to following the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the ONLY WAY that we can really be obedient to God’s command to love honor or respect anyone. Apart from Christ, is anyone worthy of RESPECT or HONOR? Apart from Christ, can we ever truly LOVE? (Please read John 15:5) "Rabbi" Mark wrote: It was easy to deceive the woman in the garden. And it is easy to deceive the woman today. But if she is obedient to her husband and her husband is obedient to God -- that woman shall not be found in another transgression. There is a significant qualifier in the word "IF". Does God's Word give us permission to not obey IF the other person is not “obedient to God”? Does God express His commands this way: obey Me IF . . .? Please read Gen 3:6. Exactly WHERE was Adam, who “Rabbi” Mark claims was made to be "physically, emotionally and logically (he used the word spiritually in his post to me) superior" to Eve? ADAM WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HER (!) and he did not (as the “Rabbi” claims) "keep her from transgression." The only One who can keep me from transgression is Jesus! Mommapbs |

762 | Woman to change last name when married | Eph 5:33 | Mommapbs | 121873
Greetings - the use of a surname did not even come into common practice until after 1000 AD. The use of the husband's name is not a matter of law but rather tradition in some cultures. There is no Biblical mandate for this. If the husband feels strongly that his wife take his surname, then out of respect (love of course promts this!) she should honor her husband. Yet if the woman feels strongly about keeping her birth surname, her husband should honor her desire in the same way (prompted by love). I know different couples with the same last name, some with two different names and others who use both surnames. Frankly, this is a matter for the couple to decide and we as outsiders would do well to respect their wishes. Blessings, mommapbs |

763 | 2 CORITHIANS 10 VS3-4-5 | Eph 6:13 | Mommapbs | 86269
Greetings! "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh," v3 Although we are physical beings, our struggle is not - it is spiritual. The battleground is our mind. Who and what we believe will determine our responses to what we experience in life. (As a man thinks in his heart, so is he! Pr 23:7) Our actions reflect what we believe, not what we know! Because there is a difference between knowing and believing, it is important for our minds to be conformed to the Truth, rather than to the deceptions of the evil one. As we come to know the Truth, we learn to recognize falsehood. But until we choose to believe the Truth, our actions will be subject to false thinking. These are the "fortressess" or stongholds that hold us captive and keep our behaviors from reflecting the Truth of God that is within us as believers. "for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses." v4 Because this is a spiritual battle, we need Divine power to demolish these anad the Lord has given us two offensive weapons to fight with - the Sword of the Spirit, His Word, and prayer. Note Eph 6:17-18 that both are empowered by the Spirit! This is an important passage and deserves much more than I have given here. 764 | i need a little more information | Eph 6:14 | Mommapbs | 118934
Greetings, I'm not quite sure what you are after in this verse but the message is to the BELIEVER - the one who has already received the Truth and wears the righteousness of Christ - to STAND FIRM. You KNOW the Truth, now ACT on it; live your live on THIS foundation. I refer you to Luke 6:46-49. Notice that the one who comes to Christ, hears what He says and obeys His Word is able to withstand any assault the world hurls against it. People will not die for something they are not convinced is absolutely true. Are you willing to die for what you believe? Has this helped? Blessings, mommapbs |

765 | Explain Hebrew 4:12 | Eph 6:17 | Mommapbs | 120380
Greetings mrsrock! If you input Heb 4:12 in the Questions/Notes on Verse field (upper left in the green bar) you can read what others have posted on this verse. In reading Hebrews 4:12 I am reminded of Eph 6:17. When we look at what the Lord has given to us in Eph 6 - the offensive weapon we have is the "sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God." Who wields this sword? The Spirit. As we read God's Word, the believer receives its benefits - intstruction, correction, reproof and training in righteousness(2 Tim 3:16). It is my opinion that Hebrews 4:12 can also be understood as a means by which God may convict the world of sin. (John 16:7-11)The thoughts and intentions of the heart can only be judged by God. (1 Sam 16:7) Blessings, mommapbs |

766 | what is meant by work out your own salva | Philippians | Mommapbs | 34504
Greetings in Jesus' Name! Although non-scriptural, an illustration that comes to mind is a "workout!" We exercize the body to maintain or improve its physical condition. It is not enough to just go the the gym and "look at" the equipment - you have to USE it! This can also be applied to our spiritual health and "conditioning!" "In Training!" Mommapbs |

767 | purpose of church anniversary | Phil 1:3 | Mommapbs | 129711
Greetings - there is no Biblical mandate to observe "church anniversarys" yet I suspect that when believers gather together to celebrate their union it is a way to express our gratitude to God for making this possible. See also 1 Peter 2:9 and Malachi 3:16. Blessings, mommapbs |

768 | How can we be sure of eternal salvation? | Phil 1:6 | Mommapbs | 24004
Check out the notes on 1 John 5:13. This is the first verse that came to my mind after reading your question. BTW, it it the Spirit that draws, convicts and assures - not you! Leave this in GOd's capable Hands, He is leading and teaching this new believer in ways that we are ignorant of; for only God knows what his heart needs. In Jesus, Mommapbs
769 | Preaching from envy and strife? | Phil 1:15 | Mommapbs | 86584
Greetings! If you keep reading vv12-21, you see that those who preach in this manner do so out of selfish ambition - their motves are not pure - (Are you looking for God's hand or what is in it?) this is distressing to Paul, who is already physically oppressed. Yet, as he contemplates this and realizes that he is powerless to DO anything about it, God evidently comforted him with this observation (v18) and he rejoices because Christ is proclaimed. Note also that this "rejoicing" is the genesis of emotional deliverance for Paul (v19)From this passage I would suggest that when we choose to focus on Christ and rejoice in Him, when combinded with prayer and the activity of the Holy Spirit, God does a work in our hearts to deliver us from spiritual oppression. I'm sure that you have come across preachers or other folks who use the Gospel for selfish gain, perhaps we need to take a lesson from Paul in our sttitude toward them. Let's let God be the judge. Something to think about . . . mommapbs |

770 | explain Kenosis | Phil 2:7 | Mommapbs | 109483
Welcome to the Forum. Please see this web site: kenosis.info - for an article written by Dan Musick. I have posted the author's conclusion below: Each of us is admonished, as was Timothy, to "study to show ourselves approved unto God, workmen that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth" (2 Tim 2:15). The great crisis in conservative, Bible-based teaching comes from a failure to be taught, and a failure to study the core doctrines of the Christian faith. Infidelity to God's Word is also tempting - no less than is infidelity to a marriage partner. New "truths" entice the faithful, as do new illicit relationships. Heresy is no respecter of godliness. This web page has been established for three purposes: (1) To help those who have not studied the two natures of Christ to understand the proper Biblical view of His humility, (2) To provide resources for those who understand the proper Biblical view to defend it, and (3) To provide resources for advancing the truth in a Christian world of ignorance, misinformation, apathy, and heresy. Corresponding to the purposes you will find in these links information to understand, inspiration to defend, and motivation to advance the truth wherever God has placed you. As you read the articles and books attached to this site, please remember that truth is not conservative or liberal. There is sound doctrine and there are false teachers. There is the Gospel and there is another gospel. There are those who have given their necks - they have been beaten, fed to lions and exiled for the truths we take for granted; and there are those whom our Lord said would be better off in the bottom of the sea with a millstone around their necks. There are the pure in heart who see Jesus, and there are those who, while seeing, do not see Him. The broad range of links at this site underscores the reality that the issue of Christ's full Deity is basic to Biblical, orthodox thought throughout history. In studying and discovering our Lord's undiminished Deity, it is our prayer that you, too, will lose yourself in the glory of Christ's humility. Mommapbs |

772 | How is Timothy an example of christlike | Phil 2:19 | Mommapbs | 136655
What did Timothy do that showed God at work in Him? (v 13) How did Timothy demonstrate "being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose?" In what ways did Timothy "do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind?" How did Timothy "regard others as more important than himself? In what ways did Timothy not "merely look out for his own personal interests, but also for the interests of others?" Phil 2:2-4 mommapbs |

773 | Why are people like Timothy rare.... | Phil 2:20 | Mommapbs | 136653
Why do I think people like Timothy are so rare? (Phil 2:20) Self-centeredness rules. Even when we are "concerned" about others, our motives are often polluted. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Prov 23:7 mommapbs |

774 | How is Christ's attitude evident.... | Phil 2:28 | Mommapbs | 136654
Read Phil 2:3-4. I'm sure you can see this in operation in these relationships. Tan Flipper, you have asked over 50 questions on this Forum - Bible Study homework does enter my mind here, and causes me to be concerned about you! In all this time, you told us nothing about yourself. Please complete the Update User Info under "Resources." As I look at this verse that you reference, I'm wondering why Paul was concerned for them? Perhaps you'd like to offer an answer for a change?! May God bless your questions and may you seek Him for more answers! mommapbs |

775 | Why is it important to honor people.... | Phil 2:30 | Mommapbs | 136651
Is there any person we are to dishonor? We are told to love our neighbor,(Mt22:39) love our enemies and do good to those who hate us. We are to bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us (Lk 6:27-28) I'm wondering, how do you respond to the person who cuts you off on the highway? mommapbs |

776 | what are the differences in goals and | Phil 3:21 | Mommapbs | 137712
Greetings - as I read this passage it appears that Paul is possibly referring to his warning in v 2. These verses suggest that in our journey, we will encounter those who look religious because of what they "do" and yet they have no intimate relationship with the Lord - they are "enemies of the cross." Their goal is a righteousness based upon their "good works" and their desitiny is eternal separation from God. see Mt 7:15-23. Believers can look forward to the promise of v 21. (So can unbelievers, for they too will be subject to Him!) Blessings, mommapbs |

FytRobert - the converse of this verse would be to participate in the activities you have questioned, among many others that are also not edifying. Bottom line is this: when in doubt, if it does not bring glory to God - don't. Simple but effective! mommapbs |

779 | just an explanation of these verses | Col 1:13 | Mommapbs | 86821
Greetings seeker 1! Welcome to the Forum. You can use the quick search feature to find many answers - input the words: kingdom keys In a previous post, Emmaus writes that the kingdom is eternal life with God. We become citizens of Christ's Kingdom when we accept Him as our personal Savior from the penalty of sin! We, as unconditionally loved and forgiven children of God, have this confident expectation of eternal life at the moment of conversion. Indeed we not only become part of God's family (John 1:12) and citizens of Christ's Kingdom but we have an inheritance waiting for us as well!Col 1:12; Heb 9:15 A key unlocks a door does it not? What then unlocks the door to eternal life with God? Jesus of course! Isn't it wonderful that He is not only the Door,(John 10:9) but He has given us the key (Himself) as well! May God bless you as you seek Him! mommapbs |

780 | Do you have any biblical quotes? | Col 1:15 | Mommapbs | 104339
Greetings! As one who doesn't do her children's homework, I too am not inclided to do yours either, but I do feel led to offer some assistence! If you want to use only words spoken by Jesus when He walked on the earth, as you read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John)on this site, all of Jesus' words are in RED. However, if you believe that Jesus is indeed God as He declares to us, then the WHOLE BIble is at your dsposal, for indeed man does not live by bread alone, but on every Word that proceedes from the mouth of God! (Mt 4:4) punishment/wrath cloning/life (read Psalm 139) What is Jesus attitude toward the lives of people? Why did He come? Note how Jesus interacted with women Music and art - "make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" Praise His name! - does our art and music do this? The Great Commandment addresses ALL we need to answer God's position on selfishness and greed. Persecution for beliefs - Jesus tells us that we will be persecuted for following Him! Use the "search" field to find Scriptures relating to these topics - my prayer is that God will bless you as YOU open HIS Word! In Christ, mommapbs |
