881 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | Mommapbs | 78238
FytRobert - "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND WHICH HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM." 1 Cor 2:9 Dt 29:29 says, "the secret things of God belong to God." !!!! Have you ever planned to surprise someone you love? How did you feel in anticipation of their reaction to what you had planned? What could or would ruin the surprise? Have you been delightfully surprised by someone who loves you? Multiply this by infinity and that is what you can expect to find in Heaven! God has a plan for each of us that stretches out into eternity. I suspect that God is just as anxious as you are to see it all unfold! Blessings on your day! mommapbs |

882 | Searching for the truth | Rev 1:1 | Mommapbs | 78374
See 1 Cor 2:10-16 God keeps secrets for many reasons, but He always has OUR BEST interests in mind. Anticipation can be a wonderful experience as it keeps us focused on what will be rather than what is. Paul reminds us that "these present suffererings are not worth comparing to the GLORY THAT WILL BE REVEALED in us!" (Romans 8:18) mommapbs |

884 | Physical or Spiritual Resurrection | Rev 1:18 | Mommapbs | 113313
John 20:14-18 Who did Mary Magdalene see? John 20:19-20 Who did the disciples see? "See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." Luke 24:39 Who did Thomas see? After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 1 Cor 15:6 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, Rev 1:17 Who did John see? Jesus said to Thomas - "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." John 20:29 See Luke 24. " . . .these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name." John 20:30 Dear friend, you can not convince your brother to believe. Just keep praying that the eyes of his heart may be opened to receive he Truth. Blessings, mommapbs |

885 | Rev 1:20 | Rev 1:20 | Mommapbs | 27907
In this passage, instead of focusing on an individual "being," perhaps the word "messenger" is a better description of what these seven angels actually are. The message of the seven individual churches mentioned in Revelation has continued significance as each is broadcast across the centuries of time.
886 | Leaving the church mad! | Rev 3:1 | Mommapbs | 84878
"By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35 It seems to me that your church is not characterized by love for one another, much less even respect! Perhaps a return to the elementary teachings about forgiveness should be considered by the Pastoral staff. Corporate confession should follow personal confession of sin in the church. The members must first recognize the plank in their own eyes before they go about demanding that others remove theirs. (Seems to me that a speck is not what anyone is seeing here!) Jealousy is bred by a desire for approval or belonging from others. And when we don't get what we want, we get mad. But have we forgotten that we already have this (approval and acceptance or belonging) in Christ - seeking it from any one but God is sin! And you are right to be grieved over what has happened to your church as a result. If God has gifted you or granted you a blessing, it is yours. If others are jealous of what you have, it is because they do not realize what THEY already have in Christ - salvation for starters! Love them as Jesus commands. Remember that you are not alone in your hurting. I will pray that God comforts you in your situation and brings about a healing for the ministry at your church. mommapbs |

887 | Why woe the rich and well-fed? | Rev 3:17 | Mommapbs | 29733
Good question KamanUCI! Jesus tells us that HIS grace is sufficient for us (2Cor 12:9)and the He will supply all our needs . . .(Phil 4:19) All too often, according to this warning to the church at Laodicea, those who are satisfied by the fruit of their labor are blind. They fail to recognize that there is a famine in their soul. When we have no needs, it is difficult to see spiritual poverty. Jesus said to the rich young ruler, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!(Matthew 19:24) Indeed it is much to mourn and sorrow over for those who trust in their own strength will enter eternity without God! No amount of "air miles" will take the rich (or the poor for that matter) to heaven! Jesus is the only way. Apart from Him,we can do nothing! |

889 | Rider -Jesus or Anti-Christ | Rev 6:2 | Mommapbs | 86677
Greetings! Notice that the rider has no arrows! (See Ps. 45:4-5) Please read the following taken Wrom: OQKEDOTWFAOBUZXUWLSZLKBRNVWWCUFPEGAUTFJM The second question fostered by the first seal concerns the identity of the rider. Out of the many possibilities offered, we prefer the person who will later be identified as the beast from the sea (Rev 13:1). As the primary antagonist and counterpart to the Lamb in the Revelation, the beast best accords with the description given in the first seal. First, the rider is mounted on a white horse. This is compared to the Lord who rides a white horse when He comes at Armageddon as detailed in Revelation 19:11-21. This has led some commentators to argue that the reader is Christ Himself. This can hardly be the case given that Christ breaks the seals. Equally, it is clear that the seals initiate events on the earth in connection with the end of the age during which the Lord will return to earth from heaven. During this period, there is no prophetic indication that the Lord will initiate this period by conquering on the earth. The white horse imagery is the first indicator of the rider’s identity. As the imitator of Christ and world-deceiver, the beast fulfills his destiny. The white horse is a part of his deception. The second descriptive detail associated with this rider is a bow. The bow is an ancient instrument of war. This rider is prepared for war. The third descriptive detail concerns a crown. The crown (stephanos) denotes rule or authority (II Sam 12:29-30). The fourth and final descriptive detail concerns the rider’s conduct—"he went out conquering and that he might conquer." To rule over others by conquest is the goal of this rider. As will be evident later, these are descriptive details related to the beast. The Lord Jesus predicted that the end of the age would begin with a dramatic increase in false proclaimers. These false proclaimers will proclaim one message, but have false motives (Matt 24:5). Do check out this web site! mommapbs |

890 | Hunger and Thirst for righteousness | Rev 7:16 | Mommapbs | 86502
Greetings FTJ - Although you did not ask a specific question, I will give you my observations. God has given us a desire for Himself (He has set eternity in our heart Ecc 3:11)I believe that this is what Jesus meant when He stated that "those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied." Mt 5:6 Jesus is the righteousness of God - when we have Him, we are satisfied, because through His righteousness we are restored to a right relationship with God, which gives us identity and purpose. We have a foretaste of Heaven on earth as we seek our meaning through Jesus. In contrast, when we seek to have this need met elsewhere, we may be satisfied for the moment, but it is not lasting; the longing persists. God has given man a hunger and a thirst for Himself! Those who have not found their satisfaction or identity in Christ will go out into eternity with an unquenchable hunger and thirst that will burn forever! This ultimate separation from God is the "second death." (Rev 21:8) May God bless you as you contemplate His Word! mommapbs |

891 | What does Rev 8:5 mean? | Rev 8:5 | Mommapbs | 72411
Greetings! As I read this verse, I am drawn to the fire. See the preceding verses and note that the fire (visible display of energy or power being expended) is the result of the incense co-mingled with the prayers of the saints. I believe that the incense represents the aroma of Christ (Eph 5:2) - His sacrificial death. Certainly God's anger is arroused against sin and the rejection of His provsion in Jesus! I suspect that the prayers of the saints are recorded in Rev 6:9-10 "I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" To me, this verse could be a picture of God's response to this explosive combination!(Which causes me to reflect upon the power of prayer that God makes available to us!) The subsequent verses elaborate on the effects of His wrath upon the earth. Just something to consider . . . mommapbs |

894 | WHO IS THE DEVIL? | Rev 12:11 | Mommapbs | 108702
Hi Rex - please re-think statement 5. WE cannot defeat Satan, Jesus already has - Satan is a defeated foe. "The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8 "Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil," Heb 12:14 We have been given the armor of God to stand firm against the devil's schemes. "Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil." Eph 6:11 Thanks for you post! mommapbs |

897 | CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN REV.17:10,IN A JIST. | Rev 17:10 | Mommapbs | 151028
fborn, welcome to the Forum. For many on this Forum, the notes of revelationcommentary.org have a wealth of information. However, I am going to offer another viewpoint that may also be worthy of consideration. This is an explanation of this passage that I recently read in "Islam, Peace or Beast." Simon Altaf, (a former muslim) suggests the identities of the "kings" of Rev 17:10 by looking at the empires that have ruled the land of Israel. He notes that "5 have fallen" (meaning that 5 empires are past) could be Egyptian, Assyrian,Babylonian, Persian, and Grecian When John writes, "one is" Altaf suggest that this is the present Roman Empire of John's day. And lastly John writes, "the other has not yet come" could refer to the Ottoman Empire which did indeed remain for a short time.(This also could be referenced as the head with the fatal wound that was healed Rev 13:3, meaning that the Ottoman Empire has been revived today as seen in the borderless nation of Islam) This follows with the next verse (11) "The beast which was (The Ottoman Empire) and is not,(the fall of the Ottoman Empire) is himself also an eighth (the rise of Islam today) and is one of the seven,(A revival of the Ottoman) and he goes to destruction." (The destiny of the Beast) Incidently, referencing v 9 - Rome is not a city that sits "by or across" (Greek "epi) 7 mountains, but Mecca does. 1 John 2:22 "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son." Rome, considered a seat of Christianity, acknowledges and promotes the Diety of Jesus Christ. Mecca, a seat of Islam, does not. Muslims are taught in the Qur'an (Sura 4:171) "The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, was no more than God's apostle . . .God is but one God. God forbid that He should have a son." There is much that we do not know, but one thing we know for sure. Revelation is a wonderful source of encouragment for the believer. Our God triumphs and reigns. mommapbs PS: What is a JIST? |

899 | MARK OF THE BEAST? | Rev 20:4 | Mommapbs | 108488
Timothy Paul in post # 65746 states: "My advice is to not spend time wondering what the mark may look like, but spend sincere effort in avoiding having the mark affixed to your own flesh, and this can be done only, in my view, by trusting in Jesus as He promises to protect us" As I consider the passages concerning the "mark" I am wondering if perhaps we are taking this far too literally. The forehead might sugest our thinking process - what takes priority in our minds is most often what we set our hands to do! Frankly, I think the magnetic stip on our credit cards poses a threat to our personal privacy as much as anything else these days! And what about the implanted chips that people are using to store medical or other personal information? Just like dogs, we will be able to identify and track all human beings within a short while - indeed it is a new world - one that is not brave at all. mommapbs |

900 | The differnece between Hell and Hades? | Rev 20:14 | Mommapbs | 32127
Do a "quick search" on hell and hades and you will find some excellent answers! The "second death" is the reality of "hell" that we should be concerned about as believers. ". . . it is appointed for man to die once and then comes judgment" (Hebrews 9:27) This judgment will be according to the records in Heaven, "And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." Rev 20:15 The "second death" is eternal separation from God! How unimaginable, and horrifying - the very thought of this neverending fate awaiting those who reject Jesus should serve as an instrument of encouragement to the believer who is charged with spreading the good news of God's Grace while it is still "today!" Blessings! Mommapbs |
