Bible Question: Where in the Bible does it talk about us not being held accountable for the things that we don't know? |
Bible Answer: Greetings virtouswoman! "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20 (read the rest of this chapter) "There is no fear of God before their eyes." Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. Romans 3:18-20 "Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment." Ecc. 11:9 We are all accountable before God and therefore should make every effort to discover what pleases Him. We have His Word on the matter, just because we don't know it is NOT an excuse to sin! The solution: read it! "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word." Psalm 119:9 Now, let me give you a personal example. A new believer had visited a medium with a group of friends. When she told me about her experience I told her that God's Word forbids this. She was stricken and declared, "I never knew this before!" She was accountable. Her response? She repented. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 I hope these Scriptures help! Mommapbs |
