541 | "Tables" or "Beds" in original text? | Mark 7:4 | justme | 77496
disciplerami: Why the NASB does not have couches or bed is a mystry to me. In the Interlinear Hebrew-Greek-English Bible the last word in verse 4 of Mark chapter 7 is couches. Above the word is a reference to Strongs number 2825. This has vy interest perked up. I have yet to find a verse that the NASB has a different reading without a reason. I will did until I find a reason, and let you know. justme |

542 | can you be more specific? | Rom 10:15 | justme | 77484
Parable: You are correct, and I am sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't see the miracles or signs of the "faith movement" as genuine,. Nor would I call the leaders and evangelists of the "faith movement" a "true" Apostle. That was the point behind my thought. I was reluctant to just state it bluntly, but as this has inspired several questions I felt I needed to be clear on why I wanted an example of just ONE person that would even be a chigger bite on a true Apostle's, of Christ's, big toe. I understand that an Apostle had to actually have seen Christ. At least that is my understanding of Scripture. Peace. justme |

543 | Holy Spirit OR Water Baptism, which? | Matt 28:19 | justme | 77480
Disciplerami: Can we have one with out the other? In Acts we see that the Holy Spirit came after receiving Christ. Then there was the question should we baptize these heathen and it was determined they had received the Holy Spirit as the Jews that came to Christ did. They then Bpatized the non Jew converts with water. Baptism is confession of an inward change. Who changes us? Is this change not the Holy Spirit of The Almighty Lord? Blessings. justme |

544 | women? | 1 Corinthians | justme | 77476
greatfullydead: I would ask you to consider the culture at the time Paul wrote his letters. At that time women were uneducated, and considered as belongings to the man. A womans life was very demeaming. Jewish men had a prayer that included " I am glad I was not born a women. Is culture of 200 years ago to be followed today? Or was Paul addressing those who lived in that culture at that time? As we see today in many third world, and even some more modern countries, women cover the face, can't drive, are beaten by others, raped as punishment, and treated like scum. I know Jesus elevated women and treated them very different form the culture of that day. For example, the woman caught in adultery, the woman at the well, Mary and Martha, and even his mother. Respect, love and uplifting women were the examples I see. Paul taught submission to both the man and woman. Men are to treat their wifes as Christ treats the Church! He gave all He dad to redeem (us) the church. I find the Book of Hosea a very clear picture of Christ and how he Bought us back with all he had, and took us as sinful as we are. I would say women know more about giving and loving and teaching then most men will ever have a clue. Why do you think most churches have more women than men? Who has the tenderness that us men strive so hard to achieve? Perhaps we (us men) know much more about asertiveness and demanding we be obeyed, than the genuineness of giving our selves as Christ did for the church (usmen included). I think we forget they, women, more specfically our wives, are our co laborers in Christ not a doormat to step upon or to be told to shutup and tend to the kids and teach other women. We men have a very distorted view of what Scripture says our lives in Christ are to be. (Now for any lady reading this take a bow while I applaud you!) I hope this is a note of enlightenment for us men. Blessings. justme |

545 | Is suicide unforgivable ? | 1 Corinthians | justme | 77301
Centurion: Welcome to the forum! Your question is one that concerns me. I sincerely hope you are not considering suicide. There is nothing that you can not work threw with Christ or is to big a problem to see you over it. The verses I give you are 1Corinthians 6:19-20 makes it clear you are the temple of God. We will be held accountable for our lives and deeds done. But the only unforgivable sin is rejecting Jesus Christ as you Lord. This forum would be very opent to assisting you in any way if you are depressed or in need of counseling. I would sincerely be interested in hearing from you. Peace in Christ. justme |

546 | Is this about water baptism at all? | Acts 2:38 | justme | 77293
Ray: I see this verse as telling the early church that the Baptism in Christ is different from that of Johns call to repent and be Baptized. Now in this verse it states that forgivness of sins and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is in connection of making Jesus Lord in being a believer, totally immersed in Chirst. This is another term for being spiritualy Baptized. Of course water Baptism is openly confessing Christ before men. Your not seeing "water Baptism" in this verse is in my opinion correct. Peace and Blessings, justme |

547 | Can a toddler go to heaven? | Rom 3:23 | justme | 77154
Sniper: Blessings and peace to you. You wrote this on Feb 18 and today is March 3. You really sparked a lot of enthusastic and well thought notes and responces from this wonderful forum. I sincerely hope you have seen just how much the forun can relate to just about most problems people face today. The caring and concern for others is just one example of the genuine love and concern the forum gives to those seeking answers to lifes questions. Ultimately the final reality is that the LORD Almighty is loving, merciful, and just and fair. There is no doubt that such an awasome Creator of all that was, is, and yet to be, could be anything but pure and loving beyond our imagination could behold. There is no posiblity that the innocent unborn or child would be condemnend to eternal hell. Just the Holy Spirit within us bares witness to that. Whoever whould say that there is not an age of mential, and enlightment accountabity has wrong theology and fails to understand our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, those souls in such states ore in the arms of Jesus our Lord. justme |

Joe24078: What does the word Elder mean? Does it not imply maturity, wisdon, and history of proven faith in Christ? If men without children at home are not worthy to be an Elder then scripture has some misunderstandings. What if a Elders wife dies? What then, must he step down? justme |

551 | Must we justify incest among Adam's kids | Gen 1:1 | justme | 74158
SteviM95: I think we need to remember that when God created Adam and Eve they were sinless. Something we have no clue what that would be like today. I don't think we can imagine a sinless world. After Adam and Eve were removed from the garden they were in a new surronding with no LAW yet, and many things we really do not know about Adam and Eve. They were told by God to reproduce. Because they were the only man and woman then God forknew their children would become mates. Please bare in mind God knew what His plans were long before Man ever sinned. The way in which God chose to populate the earth was GOOD by what Scripture says. Today it is hard to look back, and our reasoning, and laws tell us from everwhere that incest is a violation of everything we know. But when looking from the begining that is a totally different circumstance. Taking just simple rates of possible reproductive age and assuming the first created couple and their children were semi proflic in 25 years you could have a good number of humans. Nothing is to say multipal births did not happen either. In a relatively short time brother sister marriage would have perhaps stopped. In less than 100 years you could have many who were several times removed from adam and Eve. To us this seems abhorant, but it was the way God planned to start mankind. Nothing God has done was "bad". Adam and Eve covered themselves as soon as they sinned. Before that point they were perfect as God intended. I Can't imagine it that way, now from here. May I suggest you leave this one up to the Creator who know what's best. justme |

552 | Is water baptism must for Holy communion | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 74115
Bunty: John3:16-36. Baptism has been topic that we have really gone over in copious notes in the past and recently. However, I do not recall this question being brought up before. So I would say you gave a good question, and it is thought provoking. In scripture the examples we have is believers were baptized very soon after confessing Jesus Christ was their Lord. In Scripture there are examples, and instructions of how Communion was done, and the warning not to take communion unworthley. There notworthy concerns about how one could answer your question. One example, my brother in Christ, Emmaus, whom I love in Christ, and respect quite highly, do differ on this issue. I am a conserative, evangelical, protestant. Brother Emmaus is Roman Catholic. So our views on communion and Baptism are quite different. For me, this is no reason not to show respect, kindness, and demonstrate Christian brotherly love. I am going to state my view and understanding of Scripture, on this question of yours. Baptism means to submerge, and cover up with water. One could say burried in the likeness of Christ's death, raised in the likeness resurrection. Quite symbolic of Christ is the Ordinance of being Baptized, after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. To be a genuine believer, follower of Christ we are told to outwardly confess Jesus Christ. Baptism is open confession to the body of believers of your salvation. Baptism is perhaps the first outward sign of being "born again". Baptism, Communion, and Marriage are ORDINANCES of Christian belief. These Ordinances are NOT AN OPTION! Baptism is not required for salvation. Anyone who refuses to be baptized has ample reason doubt their faith is genuine. I can find no specfic scripture that says a new believer who has not been able to be baptized should be denied communion. However, I would rather error on the side of when in doubt, don't. Most churches have a baptismal service at least quarterly, I would hope! I would say if you are in a church that is not a soul winning church then go to one that is and get baptized ASAP. My back ground is Baptist. This is what I believe is supported in Scriptures teachings. I say to you, and any other believer, I respect the understanding of others in the Forum, and I am reminded in Galations 5:6 "....The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." NIV. I have sincerely offered my understanding of Scripture, to your question. I extend my respect to those who have different opinions. Peace and God's Love is offered to you. justme |

553 | Apostles, Prophets? An Office for Today? | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 74107
iverson: Welcome to the Forum! Good question, and many question the same things. This is a debatable subject. For those who are of a charasmatic background they might, or would say yes. I am not of that understanding of Scripture, and say this; Apostles were limited to those who had a literal first hand eye witness to the life of Jesus Christ. For me that ends that part, that there are no present day Aposrles. Prophets again is mainly identified with charismatic or pentacostal bacgrounds. This is used largely among Word of Faith movement believers. I find this gift miss-used today. Hank Hanegraaff in his book COUNTERFET REVIVAL calls this "fabrications, fantasies, and frauds. I openly admit this book of Hanegraaff's is my position as well. Perhaps the greatest of these false prophets seem to come out of the Toronto Airport Vineyard. Many are those who become discouraged, and weak Christians, who have been duped, and nearly destroyed by the Word of Faith movement. TBN television being a permoter of such false prophets, and false Christianity. Such false prophets and teachers as Benny Hinn, Marilyn Hickey, Joyce Meyer, Bill McCartney, Oral Roberts, John and Carol Arnott, Jack Coe, Paul Crouch, Jack Deere, Jesse Duplantis, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Rick Joyner, Jimmy Swaggart, John White, Smith Wigglesworth, John and Carol Wimble, are just a few of the past and present who are part of this apostasty. These names come from Hanegraaff's COUNTERFEIT REVIAL. I STRONGLY suggest that every Christain read Hanegraaff's COUNTERFEIT REVIVAL and Chrisit IN CHRISTIANITY. Those who are in this false movement will attack the Scriptual truth and defend these false teachers to the enth degree. I openly admit this is a rapidly growing movement that I believe is the most dangerious threat to inmature Christians, who are not well grounded in Scripture. I hope this helps you. I am sure this may be more than you expected, but it is as complet as I could do. Blessings. justme |

554 | can only male's from a church baptise | Matt 28:19 | justme | 73982
Igrabow: Welcome to the Forim! Scripture says nothing to prevent any genuine Christian from preventing them from baptizing a new believer in Christ. Although some would say this should be done through a local body of believers. Som Denomonations, some Souther Baptist will only acknowledge baptism done by an ordained Southern Baptist Deacon or Pastor. There are several churches that have female pastors and they do baptize. Most generaly it is done in the name of the Father, Son. and the Holy Spirit. This Ordiance is symbolizing the death burrial and rising of our old sinful self and the rising of our new creation of self. Like Jesus who died for us all who will call Him to save us, and His death and burial, and Jesus reiaing from the dead. I think you have brought a very interesting question to the forum, and my answer is only one of my opinion, and others may not agree, but we respect and show love and kindness here, nice I think. Blessings. justme |

555 | Born Again - Means? | John 3:4 | justme | 73980
sfjtd: Welcome to the forum! Almost the exact question was asked by Nicodemus as you have asked, in John 3:4. That's cool! Jesus answered your question, in John 3:5-21. may I suggest you read this for yourself rather than trusting what I say. However, Baptism is an outward confession of the inward self of being "born again". You sound like a God seeker, are you seeking to know more about who Jesus is and becoming Born again? If you would like I or someone else woul be pleased to prersent Jesus Christ as lord to you. justme |

556 | Are Tounges a sign of Spiritual Baptism | Acts 2:4 | justme | 73285
Bunty: Welcome to the Forum! This is a highly debateable subject. There are several ways to understand the meaning of Tounges. The tounges in Acts are in many Biblical scholars views, were known languages, not a made up sounds. I personally do not think that today tounges are seldom accurately administrated in the Biblical way. Some would say like many Penteccostal believers that one must speak in Tounges to prove you are saved. I do not think this is Biblical, and forces new believers to utter fimular phrases to sound like others who say they have the gift. Again there are others in the Forum that will disagree with me. That's ok they have a right to be wrong. I am sure to get some notes on this. The Forum is a place where we respect each other, and the most important thing is Faith in Christ expressing itself through love. I hope this helps, and blessings to you. justme |

557 | church discipline | Matt 18:17 | justme | 73078
Godfirst: I see it was November when you asked this question. I note that you had more responce just a few days ago as well. However late I do welcome you to the Forum and hope to see you back and join in the Forum. Perhaps you situation has been resolved by now. But just a note to say Matt. 18 is the best advise when the person is a member. When someone leaves and withdraws unless it was a legal matter connected to the church, like theft or something simular telling the church may be only make matters worse and drive the person further from the Lord. If as you said they have removed their membership you might become legally held for liable. Having pastored a church that went through the complete process of Matt. 18 and the church removing a man as an Ordained Deacon and dis- fellowishiping him, by removal of his membership I can address your question with pain and sorrow. No one came out of the situation without deep grief. My self included! There was no other way to resolve this, and it cost the church it's reputation, and growth was stopped for two years, friends were hurt and ministry was hampered. The man simply went 20 miles away to another SBC church and joined with no problems. As I look back some 22 years later the price the church paid was indeed very high emotionally and spiritually. The man never repented and died with sever mental illness. There were no winners, only people left in deep pain and sorrow for the man and his family. I wish there could have been a better way to restore him and the church members. This man had run the church and every pastor for almost 30 plus years. I can say as the pastor then, it was without a doubt the most painfull thing I have ever seen happen in a church. I would say assuredly the church went over Matt. 18 and beyond, and this man was unrepentant and would have it no otherway. As Christians we must be very wise in taking such actions, as the results may be very hard to deal with, as people are left with damaged emotions and spirits. Some times to obey Godsw Word it is costly. So enter wisely and God be with you. justme |

558 | Can I remarry and be forgiven by god | Luke 7:47 | justme | 72535
Tony: Your story is very sad. May I remind you that an affair is just the tip of the iceburg. Needs were not being met by either of you. Just as it takes two to make a marriage so hardness of heart takes two as well. Should your husband leave he has a "Biblical out", and if you were not neglected by him perhaps the problems would not have esculated to the point you cheated on him. He is only feeling his own pain, and does not see you pain. Men are insensitive at times and this is for sure one of these times. You and him need professional counseling from a solid degreed Christian counselor. As I said this is the tip of the iceburg, and I am sure you understand what I mean. All things are possible with God, it is just mans hardness of heart that does not allow healing. Restoring faith does take time. I hope you and he can take the time to heal these wounds. I think to even think about remarriage is very unwise on your part. I think you need to know you can depend on God and trust Him to keep you, NOT ANOTHER MAN! Remarriage should not even be a part of your thinking until all dors are closed, and you are emotionally and spiritually healed! That takes time, lots of time. Time better spent devoting yourself to your children, not dating for sometime to come. When I hear of someone having an affair in a marriage I wonder if the idea of a broken Covenant with God and between the two of you is seen as God see's this. You BOTH are to blame for letting this happen, but you are responsible for the acting out of your hurt in someone elses arms. The end results is failure an both of your parts. The odds of a second marriage working are cut in half again of the first marriage lasting. Better to work on what you have than to bring your problems to someone else. Blessing. justme |

559 | Praying in Jesus' name | Matthew | justme | 71927
kak: Welcome to the Forum! Matthew 21:22 has some thing that many take out of context. Does God give all things we ask in prayer? Why not, it says if we believe He will? Because we ask not according to His will. We pray to God through Jesus Christ who interceeds for us. Do you think Christs hears the prayer of one of His own in trouble? By saying In Jesus Name it is not like a stamp on a letter that unless you close in His name He wont hear you, I don't think. When I pray my thought is this is going to my Lord Jesus, no one else. I often fall asleep praying. Does it not reach Him because I did not say in Jesus Name? I don't think so. Well think on these things. justme |

560 | Are we not judged by how we vote? | 2 John 1:11 | justme | 71914
Ventures Fan 1: Welcome to the Forum! You can change your Forum name by leaving a note in your present Update Uuser Info saying you have changed to.... Then sign in new again and stick with the new forum name. That is honest and open to all. I changed form farout to justme quite a long time ago. A few thought farout was, too farout. Long story but thats another rabbit to chase some other time. Now to your question. I have NEVER missed a time to vote in my entire time I could vote! I feel I paid a real heavy price to be able to vote. So I wont be deprived of my privledge! Recently I have voted by the "planks" of the party, rather than the man. I think abortion is murder! I will not vote for anyone who supports abortion! I do not support any more rights for any group that is different, just because they are sexual perverts!! I do agree with the rights of the people to have firearms. With these requirements I was left with one choice. If my Christian beliefs are in line with these requirements, I will in a local election, vote for the person who holds the same values as I do disregarding political party. This last Presidental election is the first time I voted for a winning President! No matter who is in office I pray for God to work in their live. I hope never again to have such an immoral President as Mr. Clinton was. That is not to say he was the only President that was unable to be sexually pure and true to his wife. There should be no doubt that those in leadership positions, in church or otherwise, will be held even more accountable for their actions. We all will answer for our deeds good and bad. I have friends who have supported the opposite party, that I could not, according to my Christian beliefs. One example was Jimmy Carter. I have had the privledge to hear him explain his reasons as to why he could not change abortion laws. I confess after hearing him I understood his reasoning. He is accountable to God, not to me any longer. I think he has made a better peacemaker and Christian example, out of office than when he was President. Don't you wish we could say that of all past Presidents? We are required to pray for our leaders, we have a job to do and let us be faithful in doing so. justme |
