521 | Struggling with a divorce | 1 Corinthians | justme | 82203
MPierce: Wow! You have a rather complecated life, and history. I have empathy for you and your children. May I say with assurance that nothing is impossible for the LORD. Having said that, this is a Bible study Forum, no one here should offer advice, as you are in desperate need of professional counseling. There is no one who could give you the help you need on the inner net. From your note is is very clear you have made some unbiblical choices, and when we make such choices the results are seldon good. I am sure others who read this will be in prayer for you and your family. GET HELP ASAP! Peace to you. justme |

Radioman2: I wanted you to know I back your post 100 percent! I wonder if this dialogue from you is not understood as dialogue. Those who defend wof seem interested on monologue, and don't seem to hear with their "soul ears". In reality those promoting wof are anti Christ's. That's a harsh statement, but it is no less a reality. Blesings to you radioman2! justme |

523 | wednsday or friday Jesus died | NT general Archive 1 | justme | 81904
Milty: Jesus died before the sabbath, which was from sundown Friday, till sundown Saturday. Jesus rose from the grave Sunday Morning. Thus Friday, Sabbath (Saturday) and rose Sundat this equals three days. When you see it this way it becomes easier to understand, I hope. justme |

Biblesearcher: Take the verse just as simple as David intended it. Often I listen to hymns of just paino music. Even though I know the real words, I sing to myself in my mind, silent words that come to mind. I find this helps me go to sleep. Blessings jusyme |

525 | Is humanity more evil today? | Romans | justme | 81055
gasejo: I see you are new to the forum, Welcome. May I ask you pose your question? This is a fairly basic question. But in kindness I will address it whit the assumption you are serious. There are more people now, thus in volume and acts of of evil have become more in volume and the general acceptance of wickedness. A few examples of acceptance of wickedness are as follows. Homosexuality accepted in some demonational churches. The blatent way television shows homosexual life as normal. Aduiltery is displayed as exciting and normal, in movies, and TV. The number of Christians who divorce, and live together before marriage, Frankly the endless list could go on for ever. Perhaps the acts of evil stil come from the same basic sinful nature we all potentialy have, but more Christians are freely joining in these sins based on God will forgive. The pre marriage pregnancy rate for Christians is reported to be a little higher than nonchristians. How many Christians have HBO or some other filthy cable or Dish network TV? There is NO WAY A CHRISTIAN CAN JUSTIFY HAVING THESE KIND OF PROGRAMS! You ask "Are there evil acts that the Bible does not address?" I think not. Humankind has just made different methods to do the same old sins. |

526 | Trying to help a friend | Philippians | justme | 80927
dabmci: Philippians was sent to the Philippiams, and this group of verses was a note of following the Severant Attitude of Christ. The passage pretty well speaks clearly. This was good instruction for the Philippians then and is very adaptable for us today. I hope this helps. If not let me know and I will try and be more specfic. Blessings. justme |

527 | When was the book of Romans written | Romans | justme | 80919
gasejo: Romans was written in the early spring of A.D. 57, by Paul, on his third missionary jorney. Most likely written from Corinth or Cenchera. My information came from the NASB Study Bible by Zondervan notes on Page 1632. This would be an excellent Bible to learn and Study from. The price id affordable and is a investment that will pay you spititually far more tham you spens many times over. Blessings to you. justme |

528 | Are we back to the absurd view...? | 2 Timothy | justme | 80909
Radioman2: The verses in 2Timothy that came to mind are 3:16 and 16. Though anyone could use these verses to prove their point. I can't help but think of Romans 14. From my perspective, Paul says we are to be accepting of each others ways in the way we belive the Lord has instructed us. Paul simplifies the text down to a "meat and vegtables" type of accepting one another. I have really struggled with the same issue you bring up. For some there is no leway and no way to accept anyone who does not use the KJV. I personally see these type of Christians as the "weaker" that Paul refers to. I have less frustration when I see it that way. Perhaps tradition is what holds some Christians faith tightly bound together. Perhaps the biggest mountian to overcome is no version that is not written in Greek or Hebrew is exact, in translating word for word and thought for thought. There is no perfect English translation. Every English translation has a biasis. The translators come from a pointof common understand. One example is the NRSV. The agenda was a gender inclusive translation. In order to get the result of such a translation there has to be a changing of the orignal language of the Greek and Hebrew. This in my opinion is distorting the meaning. The TNIV which, some of us on the Forum were asked to review, is flawed so badly that the translators have what I believe to be an agenda beyond inclusivity. Romans 1 is so badly flawed that it uses "practicing homosexuals" which in no way can be gotten from the greek no matter how badly you translate it just is not there. I agree that there is a movement to discredit and translation that is not KJV. I grew up on the KJV, and if it was the only Bible I could and would use it. However, it would take some real effort to adapt. I use the updated NASB and I have challenged several verses that I went back and did a word by word search. I have yet to find a verse to fail that personal test by me. I admit I am not profishent in Biblical languafes but I do have the tools to help me take on the task. This is a debate that will not be settled this side of heaven. I pray that we who are blessed by some very good translations will be tollerant to those who come from a sincere place of concern that they remain pure to the KJV. I don't agree withe that view, but I can espress kindness and tolerate their mistrust of newer better translations. The problem is often those who are KJV loyalists are often so demanding there is no room for dialogue. Your thoughts are welcome. Blessings. justme |

529 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | justme | 80309
Faith Dude: The doctrine of Jesus going to hell is of nature from the Pentecostal and Word of Faith teachings. May I refer you to eguip.org and there you can find an abundance of material. This doctrine has some very serious flaws and denies the very Divine nature of Jesus Christ. Jesus did preach to those who died who were obedient to Yahweh, and walked with Him. Jesus preached He had come as Lord and redeemer, and they were taken with Him to Paradise. This is as i understand it. I would welcome anyones elses thoughts. Blessings and pray for Peace. justme |

530 | WHO HANDLES CHURCH MONEY | Matt 27:51 | justme | 80158
philsull:The Bible says to bring our ththes and offerings to be put in the churches storehouse. Today that is the local church, and because nost in the USA use checks or cash, a bank and bank account of some sort must be used. In other countries, like Mexico and Bolivia, the people give a portion of their crop, I have seen ears of dried corn stacked 6 feet hing in the cornor of sever churches at harvest time. However as to churches giving or publishing abudget. Publishing is not required by law. However, any member or any person member or not can ask for a written statement of income and payments, as required by Fedral law, for nonprofit organizations. If you are refused a written statement, a letter on noncompliance would be sent to your state agency that gives nonprofit status to such organizations, and they will give you the information you may want or need. This is not limited to churches. ANY nonprofit tax exempt organization like the Red Cross, or the like is mandated by law to comply with this law. Few are the people and organizations that are well informed of this law. Blessings. justme |

531 | If I am not looking for a new church? | Mal 3:10 | justme | 79623
dck: Welcome to the Forum! Sounds to me like you are seeking to know what to do about if you shouls begin to look for a new church home. I have been there a time or so as well. I would suggest if your still attending the church to give it to church. While looking if that's what you wind up doing, sent it to a radio ministry that has blessed you or that you listen to often. Perhaps you know someone in need, buy them some food, and give it to then in the Name of Jesus. But, before you do anything ask the Lord what His will is for you about the church, and wisdom in what to do. Blessings and pray for peace. justme |

532 | A bit confused regarding tongues | 1 Cor 14:22 | justme | 79502
MPierce: Welcome to the Forum! Wow, you asked some really good questions, which shows me you are tring to know what being a Christian is all about. I would imagine there are a lot of answers given about speaking in tongues. To say there is great division about tongues is an understatement. Having said that, I have my own bias and it is from that view point I can only address as I understand tongues. I will try and make this brief and easy to follow, I hope. I believe Scripture teaches the following. Tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. We are not all given the same gifts. The gifts are to equip the body of Christ (the Church, born again, saved, Christians) for ministry. You don't ask for a gift, or it would not be a "gift". I do not recall ever hearing of Christians asking for the gift of "helps' or "hospitality" or "giving" and the list of the "gifts" goes on. Why do some "ask"? I can find no scriptual basis to ask for a gift of the Holy Spirit. I am perplexed how one can prove from Scripture speaking in tongues is to be taught to others. That would then be teaching others, would it not? How then is that a "gift of the Holy Spirit? In my opinion it is not a gift then, but a teaching. I believe there may well be the active "gift of tongues" if it is done as outlined in scripture. Often today we see the same person giving the meaning of the tongues after speaking in tongues. This is totally not done in line with what Scripture says. There must be the meaning given by some else or the tongues are false. When speaking in tongues is tied to proof of salvation I believe that is Biblically unfounded and becomes a way of making people say gibberish that is not from the Holy Spirit. As I stated there may well be the "gift of tongues" today, I believe tongues are genuine to a far less extent then most tongue talkers will admit, for in certian groups there is great pressure put on especially new Christians to prove they are saved by speaking anything to get the attention off themselves. Paul even said tongues was the least desireable gifts. Perhaps no other "gift" has caused more misunderstandings, and borken fellowship with other Christians than the "gift of tongues". I personally do not think speaking in tounges is reason to cause a brake in fellowship. There are many understandings and views by very well trained theologians, and they do not agree. So with respect for my other fellow Forum members I encourage you to move slowly and study the Word, and what ever conclusion you come to, which may change as you mature, have it based solidly on the Word. Blessings and pray for peace. justme |

535 | Pick prophcies we want, ignore others? | Rev 11:1 | justme | 78853
Searcher56: Hi, Justme here. May I offer an observation in your dialogue with Taleb? I hope you said yes. I think Taleb may be of the Almillennial view of understanding Scripture. Correct me, but I think after reading your notes, you may be in the Dispensational Premillennial understanding of Scripture. At least your dialogue gave me the hint of this. If this is the case neither of you is likely to get the other to change their view. Both views can be held to the light, and have valid representation in past theologians and Biblical scholors. The same can be said for thelogians of today. Even though this seems like a major difference of understanding Scripture, there is no reason to not enjoy a good serious debate. I enjoyed your notes and use of scripture to back your position. Personally, I take Matthew 24 and 25:1-13 and let Jesus speak exact, and perfectly as Jesus said it would be. I keep it in context with the rest of subsequent verses in Scripture and if my view does not agree. I back up and see what it is Jesus said that I don't understand. Everything must agree with what Jesus said, or I have a misunderstanding. That makes sense to me, this is not always simple, and requires more study, from my perspective. Peace and blessings. justme |

538 | Not incest, but adultery? | Mark 6:18 | justme | 77527
disciplerim: In a pure way of thinking, relations within a family being a relative it very well could be considered incest. Most certianly Herodia's daughter was dancing to stirr up Herods errotic feelings, and her dancing was intended to arrouse him. That would by Christ deffination of lusting after a woman would be incestual thoughts. What do you think? Peace. justme |

539 | Divorce | 1 Thess 4:3 | justme | 77519
AnneDenise: The advice you get on this forum is the opinion of well intended Christians, who are not certified Christian counselors or psychologists. The is a Bible forum, and is not intended to deal with or offer the help you and you mate need. May I suggest you need marriage counseling, and nothing else will do. There are to many variations in how we might understand your problems. The baggage most of us carry, and with our own biasis that is too much for the forum, you need an expert to see you through this. One suggestion is ask you Pastor for his advice or perhaps a referal. I am sure several in the forum will remember you in prayer. But seek out counseling while it may still be of help and save your marriage. Blessings. justme |
