FYTRobert: I thought I would giev you a different slant on my answer. Do you really think the many peoples in the non christian world want to love or kill us? My belief is the only attempt to unite religions of the world is made by the liberal neo orthodox Christians reaching out in ignorance to other religious leaders that are liberal in their religion. I think this forum is about as unifing among Christians as you may find. We have a cross section from Catholic, Pentecostal, Word of Faith, Baptist, Independant, Non Demonational, Methodist, Jewish Christians, and a bunch of others. Sometimes it gets into some heated dialogue in the forum. Just mention eternal security, baptism, Word of Faith, speaking in tongues, and hold on your in for a ride. Most of keep our cool and if we get hot under the collar Hank steps in the help cool the heat down. So have fun! justme |

jcan5: justme here, I made a very stupid, blunderious error! I ask your forgiveness. The Rotherham Bible is known as "The EMPHASIZED BIBLE" and has an excellent reputation! I typed in my searcg engine rothams or something like it and because I entered the name wrong, I got the right information, but on a different version. I sincerely did not mean to confuse you. This goes to show that no matter how wise I may think I am I am not so wise as to make a foolish mistake. Your indulgance of my stupidity would be appreciated. Thank you. justme |

506 | What is the most accurate Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 84009
jcary5: Welcome to the Forum! What a good question! I might add a lot of people ask that question, as you might expect there are several qualified answers. For absolute accurate the Greek New Testament and the Hebrew Bible are with little doubt the perfect solution and answer to your question. But some of us have a hard time with English say nothing of Greek and Hebrew! However even that cam be overcome with several books that take the languages and have the english equalivant and put it under or over the orignal words. Even then it reads awakward. Now here comes the matter of ones opinion, which I do have, I believe the New American Standard Bible Updated version (NASB Updated)is the best of the best. By that I mean as close as word for word can be, which in some places the orignal languages words may have some problems with English equalivant words. If you are wanting a Bible that uses what is called Dynamic equalivant, meaning a "thought by thought" equalivant translation the New International Version (NIV) is quite good. I use both side by side as I study. For many years I have used the NIV and preached by it, and used it in Seninary. I say again this is my opinion and that's all I can give you. As I have grown older I do like the NASB Updated better. May I suggest you go to a Christian Book store and look and read each for your self. I will say a new or older Christian who has really never gotten into the Word much before, I would suggest the NIV Study Bible. There is also the NASB Updated Study Bible both are made by Zondervan Bible Publishers. The study notes are excellent and you may well like both. The NASB Updated is at a 10th grade reading lever and the NIV is at about 7th grade reading lever, which most of the US reads at this level. As and aded thought you may want to ask what version your Pastor uses, and get his thoughts as well. I hope this helps, Please let me know if I can give you some more information, from my view point. Perhaps others will respond with some other alternatives as well. Blessings to you and enjoy the Forun! justme |

507 | questions on marriage | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 83651
tabitha: Welcome to the Forum! You state you are "with" this man now. Does that imply you are living together now? You sound confused and I wonder if you have ever come to the point in your life where you have ever asked Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your Life? I think that is the most important question above all the rest of what you ask. What do you feel about what I have said? justme |

508 | What were, are, they filled with? | 2 Corinthians | justme | 83644
Hi Ray! Justme here. Wow you have put some thought provoking questions up! Here goes, I will give you my best. In Matthew 28:19 we are told to Baptize in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. In John 16:7 Jesus is saying that He will send the "Helper" in GK. Paracletos, one called alongside to help; or Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor. John 14:16 agains refers to the "Helper" and in John 14:26 Jesus calls the "Helper" the "Holy Spirit". In Acts 2:33,38 refer to receiving the "gift of the Holy Spirit." and in Romans 15:13 there Paul describes in specfic ways the Holy Spirit in His power, works in the believer. In 1 Corthians 13, Paul tells us the greatest gift is "love". Then in Chapter 14 Paul goes into the "spiritual gifts", which if you notice the "Gift of the Holy Spirit" is given to all believers! The "spiritual gifts" are the results of maturing in our Faith and relationship and Lordship with Jesus Christ, these "spiritual gifts" are given as a gift, to use for the benefit of the Church to use in evangelism, worship, leadership, and reconcilation, of the lost and carnal Christian. We receive the Holy Spirit upon confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and our Savior. I can add that some believe the Holy Spirit enters our life at that point, and others believe the Holy Spirit enters our life only after you have followed the Lord in water Baptism. (I see both sides and I believe if you refuse to be baptized you proberly are not genuinely saved.) The Holy Spirit resides in us and is the Seal of our Salvation from the Father. If I so want the Holy Spirit to "fill" me and direct my way he will. I can also make the choice to ignore His Leading. That is sin. I don't discount that all the gifts are in use today. I do think there is an abundance of pressure, wrongly put, on new believers, to show proof of their salvation by the speaking in tongues. My personal belief is there is more to suggest that the gifts of "helps" is more evidence of the fruits of the Holy Spirit" than tongues or "utterances". I believe the Word says the "gifts" are just that. I doubt we should demand any one gift. I am willing to accept any "spiritual gift" the Lord wants me to use for His use. I sincerely hopes theis helps. I remember you often in my prayers, may God bless you Brother Ray. Justme |

509 | Define 'spiritual death' | 2 Cor 5:21 | justme | 83112
gracefull: The misnomer that Jesus went to hell is taught is some groups that usually do not believe in the trinity. Scripture says Jesus bore our sins, and by His blood shed on the cross we are saved. Dis not Jesu say to the repentant thief today you will be withe ME IN PARADISE? Not hell. Many early church fathers believed Jesus was refering to Psalm 22, whenJesus was repeating "My God......" Can God who is present every where and is all seeing turn his back on anyone? God may Judge us, punish us, but Christ was God! Can God turn against Himself? To come close to a Hank Hanegraagg words. the lie that Jesus went to hell is a lie from hell itself. I pretty much agree. Just some thoughts... Justme |

513 | pastor having one wife | Titus | justme | 82888
Kaylynn: Welcome to the Forum! One Scripture is Titus 1:5-9. There are other Character qualities that are listed besides having one wife, which are just as important. The question of a one wife Elder has been debated in Demonations, Churches for many decadeds. Some say this that under no conditions, death, the wife leaving, or these events before becoming a saved man, there are no exceptions. Others say Paul was refering to multi wifes (poligmany). Some think, this lists referes to character not qualifications. Both have scripture to back their perspective view points. We do have pastors today serving Churches who became divorced while in the pulpit. One such Pastor is Dr. Charles Stanley, and he has quite a large ministry, and he is Southern Baptist. Southern Baptist which as a general are rule not inclined to accept divorced men, or men who are married to a divorced woman. Some think this is too harsk. Others say it is reality of Scripture. I have my own opinion but have presented this a nutral as I can. I grieved that divorce is as common is the Church, as it is in the world! Something is seriously wrong. Blessings justme |

514 | can a woman lead a church | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82774
Bwingate77: Welcome to the Forum! I thought to myself, about your question, why? The Histoy of women in ministry in the United states is rich and plentiful! Today many demonations have women as ordained pastors, and in about every position you can name. Galatians 3:28, 5:6-7, are some important verses to consider. There many demonations and churches that are at the very extreme side that won't even allow a woman to teach Sunday School. There is wide distance in how men and women think about ordination of women, and even women serving on church boards. This has been a topic in the forum and I doubt either side changed anyones views. I prefer to leave my bias out, and have presented just the facts as I understand them. I will say that proof of the call of God on ones life for ministry is validated by the Holy Spirit and a call of the church and is proven over time. Hope this helps. Blessings. justme |

515 | Authority, without literalism? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82771
Just Read Mark: Welcome to the Forum! Any time we read and study Scripture there are several things to keep in mind. What is the history at the time writen. Whom was it writen for, and why? What's the meaning for those at that time. How does that relate to us. Also the culture at the time, and is it for our culture today. Not all these are sure fire answeres to look for, but is sure keeps me on a better track. With no doubt (for me) that to say women should be quiet in church today is not applicable today, as it was a cultural issue then, not now. Saying that I respect others that do not agree, but please don't send notes to me saying how wrong I am, please. Where we can take the meaning literal we should. Rather clear is the Ten Comandments are still quite valid today. But we don't stone people who brake some of them, as they once were supose to do. I think a good study Bible is Updated NASB Study Bible, by Zondervan or the NIV Study Bible are good helps to more careful in understanding the Word today. Hope this helps. justme |

516 | had food just this boy odd? | John | justme | 82767
Hallen6: Welcome to the Forum! There can be a lot of speculation about why others did not have food. For me I think the least helpful person would be a small boy, and his lunch to be able to be used. Perhaps it is a way of reminding us that little is much when given to God? Perhaps he was the only one willing to offer any food as many were greedy? The key is God is able to supply our needs. We can trust our lives to the Lords care. I think there are endless possibilities. What do you think? Blessings! justme |

517 | Jesus saves, not baptizing, right? | Mark | justme | 82552
Timmybean: Welcome to the forum! I see this is your very first note. You are correct in your statement that the basic first step in being a Christian is to ask Christ to into your life. However, with that comes the proof of making Jesus Christ Lord, is to obey His commands. A Christian will want to identify and confess Jesus is Lord by being Baptized. I believe if we look at someone who has been a Christian for some length of time and has not been baptized, then there is something very seriously wrong. I hope this helps. Enjoy the Forum and feel free to ask something else if you wish. Blessings to you Timmy. justme |

518 | Titus and Romans:comparable introduction | Rom 1:4 | justme | 82475
Ray: I am so glad the hear from you! You are in my prayers. Now to your question. Most all of Pauls intoductions have a simular format to a degree. Just because you asked, I did count the pronouns in both introductions. In Romans, I could not come up with a number divisible by three. In Titus, yes, I think maybe. So you got me, why would I want to do the mathmatics? The reason I desired to do so was because I thought there was some significant idea you were coming up with. Now about being off base, no. Scripture speaks to each of us in ways that the Holy Spirit wants to make us aware of. I have often read a passage several times and learned something new after reading it for years. For instance, last week when I was reading what happened on that day, the last week of Jesus, one day at a time, as the day passed. I noticed something I had overlooked. The donkey Jesus rode on had to have its mother with it. That opened a new idea for my understanding of this event. Why I never paid attention to that detail before I have no idea. This was a real gem to discover for me. I hope my answer is what you expected. Sometimes I get an answer to my questions and they are way off base. I hope I got close to what you were looking for. Blessings to you Ray! justme |

520 | to justme can we talk and disagree? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 82225
Imf: Sure I can dialogue about faith. However, I stand firm I will not debate or respond to WOF. I believe dialogue needs to br respectful, kind, and open to hear what the otherpeerson says. I think we have a understanding on what we disagree on, so lets avoid that topic. I have no problems, in responding to you. I already answered you note on Philippians 4:19. I think you will find me to be open, respectful and kind. At least I strive for those trates. What do you think is a good response to dialogue? justme |
